This was one of those impulse buys as my daughters old phone died and I wanted to see what you can get for a whopping R299 (excl vat, total cost R340.86c) in the android arena.

I bought this from Esquire as part of their Rainbow deals on Monday.

The normal price is R499.

As the company have already made an unpacking video I will just leave that here instead of doing any of the actual work myself.

The phone comes in a pretty decent looking box and has all the usual on the parts list including the battery, a charger, a micro-USB cable and earphones. as an added bonus it comes with a screen protector already attached to the glass.

The build quality surprised me, I was really expecting there to be visible defects or fragile covers but all seems to be quite decent.

The first annoyance is that the battery is completely flat on arrival. I am currently charging that.

The specifications are rather basic and can be viewed here:

To be continued once I have some juice in the system....

r350 for essentially an iPhone 3GS.. you know what, you may as well just have one of these in a drawer. Plus it could powerfully operate over 20 apps at the same time!

New day and the phone has some battery life.

The initial power on took around 60 seconds before the welcome and set up screens appeared, typing on the keyboard is surprisingly easy for the small screen and low resolution and I did not make a single mistake while entering wifi passwords and account details.

The default screen brightness is way too low for my liking so I put that up to max before carrying on.

I have unplugged the phone from it's charger and intend to see how well the battery lasts as I do all the required updates as well as installations for my daughter.

Before I start with that, here is a list of (non standard) apps pre installed on the phone:

Backup and Restore
Clean Master
Clock
Docs to go
DU Battery Saver
Facebook
Movie Studio
ToDo
Water?
