DSTV Now app on CS918 Android TV box?

Hello

Just wanted to check if anybody is currently using the DSTV Now app on a Q7/CS918 Android TV box. The reason I mention this specific box is that it seems to be one of the most affordable units for streaming DSTV directly to the TV without a PC/laptop.

Have searched the site but only read reports which are now several months old.

Found a box here - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1T6WAEGHYD7ZA. Any reason this is unlikely to work?

The only box at the moment is the Mygica boxes afaik. I have a ATV1800 and it works great with all the DSTV apps. Sure its SD at best. Chinese manufacturers mass produce and do not supply a unique device id.
 
Does anyone know if the Apple TV devices support any of the DSTV apps?
 
Two things that many Android boxes don't have that is required by DSTV Now is a unique device ID and widevine drm. Along with the Mygica ATV1800 I can confirm that the ATV582 also works well.

Hi JvanD

Is your ATV1800 still working with Dstv Now? Looking to buy one this week but just want to make sure that with the latest updates on the 1800 and dstv now app that everything is still operational. Thx
 
I have MyGica582 but when I click on Play I got an error that "this device is not supported or rooted" I haven't done anything except new update from MyGica website..
How did you make it work?
Also I tried with my Android JVC TV , I got the same error... Did they updated the app to block non Phones devices??

DSTV Now is incompatible with more than 90% of Android devices.
It doesn't look like Multichoice even cares.
Devices that are fully unrooted and run Netflix 4K with Widevine Level 1 DRM and Showmax perfectly, can't run DSTV Now because they are still using crap DRM providers like Irdeto with Kitkat ICS support that don't work properly on newer Android OS's.
The DSTV Now app also requests telephonic services permissions while tv boxes don't have telephonic or call capabilities which might also be causing some problems.
