How M-Net was started with R50,000

Ton is someone I always enjoy talking to. Very insightful

After he was introduced to the concept by Bekker, Vosloo managed to convince the Naspers board to give him R50 000 to start M-Net.

“One had to have nerves of steel as the so-called hockey stick curve before becoming profitable was to be expected.”

So, R50 000, and sureties from your holding company to the tune of millions...

Weird that this article is published now during the court battle between Cliff and MNet. MNet never had real competition in the broadcasting industry during it's reign in the SA broadcasting industry.

It's also broadly perceived as one of the relics of the past. I f#%&# hate this company that has mostly become synonymous with privilege in the SA broadcasting industry. :(

They were there at the right time and bought out rights like nobody's business and they know they're dead in the water if they can let go of those "exclusive" rights that they've held for decades.

F&%@ balls MNet! :p
