Ransomware – what it is, and how to protect your files from it

a lot of the time the ransomware can be decrypted if you look for help in the right places

ask for help before assuming its hopeless.

You don't have to worry about this crap if you just take basic precautions and use common sense.

- Use one of the top antiviruses. Kaspersky, ESET or Bitdefender.
- Use Malwarebytes
- Don't open dodgy files, links or browse dodgy websites.
- Use Adblock Plus. Blocking ads is great for your online security. Whitelist your favourite sites though if you're a nice person.
- Backup your important stuff to the cloud.

Care to expand, where would you ask for help?

Then there is ransomware. This is crafted by cyber-criminals for extorting data from innocent users, and is rapidly becoming a threat to individuals, small business and corporate users alike.
...extorting DATA now? Holly carp, is this what writing has become? Also, consider CryptoPrevent*, or its ilk.
