We are all living inside a computer simulation – here’s how it works

For arguments sake it definitely can't be true otherwise my code in the simulation is seriously bugged as I'm not a billionaire yet :)
 
We are all living in the Matrix.
Who wants the red pill and who wants the blue pill ?

Anyway....if someone "wakes" me from the Matrix and the "real world" looks like it is in the movies.......I will be pissed

They only woke up "useful" people in the movies.
 
A simulation system would need to manage all the entities in the world and all their interactions. This would require a vast amount of processing. Further support can be found in arguments relating to quantum mechanics – to run a truly lifelike simulation of a city, with all its trillions of interactions, would require a city-sized computer. This makes the case for our existence in a simulation very unlikely.

I don't buy this argument.

The atoms of a brick don't need to be simulated for a brick to be a brick: You just simulate a brick with brick properties.
You don't need to simulate every brick of every building once it's built: You just simulate a building with building properties.

Add in a collision / interaction system.

A plane flies into a building or a person kicks out a brick and puts it under a microscope: Then the system starts computing the finer details.

We already model real-world physics with game engines without the engine needing to be aware of the atoms of that box you're throwing around. We know how a 50kg box behaves in a particular gravity so we treat the box as a single entity and get on with other things.

This is an old idea, the theme of the 1964 novel "Simulacron-3" by Daniel F Galouye. I enjoyed the book, the movie "13th floor" wasn't too bad an interpretation.
 
I was reading more about this topic over on the BBC website, find it fascinating, as I have always believed in a "higher" power out there...

I have always believed that not everyone who walks amongst us has a soul..... and "bad" folk are put in here with us for a reason....

I believe when we die , your soul move's on , leaving this "sim" behind us...

The part that stood out in the article for me.....

Quantum mechanics, the theory of the very small, has thrown up all sorts of odd things. For instance, both matter and energy seem to be granular. What's more, there are limits to the resolution with which we can observe the Universe, and if we try to study anything smaller, things just look "fuzzy".
Smoot says these perplexing features of quantum physics are just what we would expect in a simulation. They are like the pixellation of a screen when you look too closely.

We're in the matrix alright, only the bastards up north are running a photo-realistic version of GTA 5 while we're all stuck down here in a buggy version of Minecraft where only characters of a certain colour may amass wealth and if you build an actual mine worth anything the overlords will take it over by force ...

Well screw you. You can't just land on someone else's server and think you run the place.
 
The graphics of this simulation still sucks, I had to install the glasses upgrade just to see clearly. Can the admin please look at upgrading the system. Tnxbai
 
The only remotely interesting thing about this is that some people see it as this great new idea.
 
Recently asked the other side if we're living in binary code, and they said no, DNA code.
