New designer Samsung SERIF TV

That's a ugly body. This would probably work if the TV could rise slowly out of the furniture.

Been wanting this for a few weeks now.

Samsung has finally brought design to their TV's. Before this you just had a choice between B&O...and B&O

Commodity tech is not worth much. Add some design, and it's worth a lot more

Design?

That is not design, its just retarded. I could do better with a commodity screen thank you very much.

And this doesn't redefine the television experience at all, it just limits where you can put it and charges you extra for the priviledge of making your life more difficult.

Redefine? The purpose of design is not to redefine an experience. A designer chair is just a chair, however it's looks are supposed to elicit a response. Same for a TV.

In the article, which you obviously didn't read then...

A true collaboration with acclaimed Parisian design duo Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, the Samsung SERIF TV redefines the television experience,” said Samsung.

I didn't pick up on that. Bit silly to claim a design redefines an experience.
Alters it, sure. Redefine, most certainly not.

But marketers do what marketers do

LOL! love that picture of the salesman BS'ing that customer. check those smiles! hahahaha!

people with money hide their TV with in the wall or motorised drop down brackets or TV lifts or what ever

this thing still looks like a TV, the stand is just bigger, it actually seems more in the way than current things.. daft.

You hide TV's because they are ugly. If they aren't ugly, then it should be seen. Like any other object d'art

people hide them for different reasons, one example is not to show any technology at all, another is people dont like the look of the screen when its not used, others dont have the space to have it stand around or hang on the wall...

this TV has massive edges and a huge stand, it takes up even more space, it goes against the edgeless screen that so many people want too. but there are many people in the world and this will appeal to some..

its daft imo. really daft.

No, it does nothing to the TV experience....

It adds cost to commodity hardware and thats basically it.

Well, it makes it no longer look like bland technology. It now looks a proper piece you would have in your house

Each to their own of course but I wouldn't have that turd in my house...

But then that is what design is all about really. Totally subjective.

Kind of. Good design is not subjective. It's is meant to elicit a response. As to which response it elicits, (You desire it or hate it) that is of course dependant on each person.

If it doesn't elicit a response, then it isn't good design.
