Why is my GTX 750 core only running at 783mhz?

Hi I recently bought a second-hand GTX750 1GB card. The standard speed for this model is 1020mhz but my core clock is only running at 783mhz and max temp it reaches is 50c. The card also has a 6pin pcie connector which is also unusual for this particular model. The main thing is I can't figure out who exactly manufactured it. The original owner bought it from Matrix warehouse. It's a GTX750 1GB which he bought for R2200 and it has a sticker on it that says Ninja on the fan. I have tried visiting the ninja-vga website but they only have a GTX750ti 2gb listed on their site and it doesn't look the same as mine. I figure that if I can find out the precise make and model then I can see what the core speed should be and whether this card can be overclocked.

Download GPUz and post a screenshot over here.

I recommend you you use OSD to monitor your GPU stats ingame, PM me if you need me to set it up for you.
 
Just out of interest, is the power setting in the Nvidia gfx settings set to max performance? Seems to be throttling itself, either not enough power draw or some limitation, or its just end of its day.

I dont recommend this as the card will be running at 100% power even at 0% load.
 
Thanks for your replies I will have to get back to you this evening. I have msi afterburner installed. Everything is just at default settings, with voltage control and max power % disabled. I have a 450w PSU installed but it does say on the box it is rated at 350w so I wonder if that means drawing any more power than that might be unstable? The card is only 3 months old so I'm sure it's still got plenty life left in it.

Are you viewing the clock speed at idle or under stress? Run Kombustor with Afterburner in another window and see what happens to the clock speed.

Ok so it's definitely running at a constant speed even when under stress. Screenies:











Edit: Not sure if it would have any effect but I was experimenting with overclocking my GT430 before I retired it. When I installed the GTX750 I first uninstalled MSI Afterburner and removed all user settings, and did a clean install of the Nvidia drivers when I plugged it in.
 
is the 6-pin power connector plugged in?
What happens if you up the power limit to max in msi afterburner to max?

The 6 pin is definitely plugged in. I've unlocked voltage control in the settings but I still can't edit the power limit. I can edit core voltage but haven't tried.
 
I've also tried setting to "Prefer Maximum Performance" in Nvidia 3D management settings, but it still doesn't change speed even when under stress.
 
I think you have a fake/flashed card.

Here is a real GTX750 stats are way off.

Well that would suck. :( I've got the original receipt and the serial numbers match up so I'll get in contact with Matrix Warehouse and see what they say.
 
Also interesting to note is that the card seems to be running at PCI-E 1.1. I will troubleshoot that tonight with my GT430.

If it's a legit card and still under warranty just take it back and query it.

Nice find. I once bought a flashed card, luckily the seller refunded me. I think you're spot on there. OP - is it a new or a secondhand card?
