Netscape Navigator 3.0 20-year anniversary

Microsoft killing off competition like Netscape led to an antitrust case against them. Microsoft was found guilty of monopolistic behavior and as a result had to share their API for a limited period.

Am I correct that the foundation that owned the NN source open-sourced it and that led to Firefox, which again rubbed M$'s nose in it?

When I first started using the internet many years ago, I used IE for about 6 months and I hated it. When I got introduced to Netscape, there was no looking back. And when they were no longer about, I moved onto Firefox which I still use today.

This makes me think of my old dial-up modems. The first modem I had was some white one (forget the name of it) and then I had a US Robotics which I just loved which got fried one year cos of lightening strikes. Got myself another one which I still have today as a reminder of the old days. :)
