Memetics and the science of going viral

WHO LET THE DOGS OUT? WHO-WHO-WHO-WHO-WHO?

If you’ve ever heard the Baha Men’s 2000 hit “Who Let the Dogs Out,” you probably have also experienced its somewhat-annoying-but-very-catchy hook being stuck in your head for several hours.

These articles are pure memes. I stopped visiting 9gag just for mybb.

I've never thought about memes much, but let me quickly do an off-the-cuff 'scientific' analysis without clicking on the link.

Taking into account that 70+% of the world's population are certifiable idiots:

1) Keep it simple, stupid.
2) It doesn't need to make sense, in fact the less sense it makes the better.
3) Repeat the hook ad nauseam, no variation. Moer daai spyker.
4) Keep it simple, stupid.

Not that simple: You also have to think like them.

Actually, I don't agree. The target market doesn't think. Just hang a carrot in there.

Well, actually it is entire science used by the people from marketing departments, politics, social media guys, etc.
