"Please open your Banking App and follow the prompts to approve this request"

Zero prompt from the app on both devices I have FNB installed, tried multiple times.
"Not receiving Smart inContact message? Check your notification settings and your internet connectivity"

Fark, I knew this bs was coming when they added Smart inContact messages for transaction verification.

Below the 2nd message is:
Lost or stolen phone? Please call 087 575 0362
I phone but the call center is closed because you should do all payments before 7pm and not on public holidays

Must I just wait it out, online and app banking otherwise seems fine though.
Anyone else have this experience?

Well I did some lateral thinking and added the contact via the app

Still a bit of a box up, I prefer copy and pasting acc numbers to prevent mistakes, also waste of my time to add the payment recipient only for the app not to give me confirmation.

You need two check on your online settings that the phone you're using is the one that gets the incontact messages. I thought mine was getting normal incontact ones but not for adding contacts.

I also find out the hard way that it didn't allow me to add a beneficiary unless I had logged into the app before pressing the button on the PC to confirm, then approving it via the app.

I'm also having this problem since I switched phones (same SIM and number). I've checked that the phone is linked and recognized online, and banking through the app works fine, but I never get the code when doing an EFT from my PC.

Does my posts above solve this for you?

Thanks Fanie, that would do it. I've linked but not authorized. I see that I was prompted immediately to authorize it when I used the phone browser to login to the FNB site, but that was the first time I'd heard of needing to authorize. You'd think the account linking would be enough.

I usually do all my banking from a more secure browser on a PC. It would be useful to be notified through other means that a linked device still needs to be authorized (beyond having to log in from a mobile browser).

I had a similar problem over the last two days with FNB.
Called the contact centre, and in order to "Verify" a device, you need to make a payment from
The App on the device, and wait up to 7 days for it to be deemed valid etc. Only then will you have the "verify" option next to the device name on your Internet Banking Profile.

Such a schlep.

bullschit, i didn't need to do this

I recently switched from the Nexus 6 to the Nexus 6P. Same issues.
All I had to do was delete the Nexus 6 in my online profile. Everything 100â„… since.

Thanks Fanie that sorted it out.

Weird I got no prompt to verify the installation on both a new tablet and phone, both were installed in the last week or 2. Previously I got an automatic prompt the next time I logged into online banking via browser after a new app install/log in session.

Just to confirm, which OTPS and notifications should I be receiving via SMS and which via the Banking APP?
Seems to be a mixed bag, sometimes I get otps via both sms and the app at teh same time with the same code or sometimes just sms

OTP should come through both. Confirming a payment will be through app only.

I find that FNB's confirmations on app do not come through on our work wifi. I need to turn wifi off and as soon as I am on mobile data it comes through immediately. I still need to figure out why this is, FNB knows not

Probably the work firewall. Same thing with us. App probably requires access to a specific (non-standard) port.

I had an interesting case where my phone apparently had a second profile created yesterday which caused problems. I deleted the original profile and verified the new one and everything is happy.

I havent changed phones in 2+ years, so this is very strange and I suspect had something to do with an app update (I noticed it looked different a few days ago).

today I learned 2 things.

1) you can link 2 devices to one account. that is quite useful.
2) Fanie still uses his LG V30 for his main FNB banking...
