Hi guys,

I am looking to get a heart rate monitor to help with my Vitality points. I don't need anything special, just something reliable.

I saw this one on special at Game and liked the convenience of having it as a watch, but it seems very cheap compared to the rest.

It comes with a 12 month warranty but thought I would get some more opinions before deciding.

Does Discovery accept it? No use buying it if Discovery does not accept its data as valid.
 
My wife has this and she is very happy with it. No idea if Discovery accepts it though.
 
It isn't listed as a supported device on the Discovery website but the Samsung S Health app is, so i am thinking that if I sync the watched data with S Health Discovery should then accept it. I have emailed Discovery to find out if this is possible.

Okay so unfortunately there is no workaround even when syncing with S Health. So going to have to look elswhere

I suggest buy it and use it for a week. try syncing it to S health and let us know if you get points. If not return it. Either way you get your money back (cash or kauai). game has it on special for R399.00 till the 17th.

Can someone who has used the device please confirm whether it actually has constant heart rate monitoring? Can you turn the screen to an 'HRM mode' that it shows your heart rate live (as seen ons some promotional images)

I'd like to use it for training and it would need to track heart rate 'automatically' as opposed to for example the Galaxy S7 where you need to touch a specific area on the device.
 
I would also be interested to know if anybody has successfully used this with Vitality for constant heart rate purposes?

One of my friends has this. I checked the heart rate monitor, and it has live, constant tracking throughout the day and while you sleep.
The issue is that it doesn't integrate with Discovery App for Vitality points, even via S Health. It does, however, sync with Google Fit, but that too doesn't sync with Discovery or S Health. Think Discovery really needs to start adding a few more brands. Most of the supported brands are close to R2000 and above.
 
Mine is not working :(

The heart monitoring feature seldomly works. Most of the times it just shows dashes. I'm taking it back.
 
I have one. Everything seems to be working. Heart rate tracks all day and gives me a log on the android app. Sleep gets tracked and logged. Does not pair with other apps covered by discovery.

As a side thought: If this band had a 500% markup on the price, discovery would be all over it.

So, go for the more expensive one and keep discovery happy with their constant upgrade in demands. Get rewarded based on your ever increasing willingness to try and make their ridiculous targets and make them happy (and not yourself).

Or maybe, just maybe, get this cheap tracker that does about everything (except gps tracking :( ), know your daily activities, be fit (pun) and have money left to do something other then being fit all the time. I am into fitness, but weekends I go and enjoy what life has to offer.

I certainly don't want to tell my grandchildren one day that I was super fit, because I wanted that free smoothy which I couldn't afford because of my expensive wristband and shoes (which discovery suggested I buy to be as fit as I can be).

But I digress. It works for me :)

I have a FitBit...a hand me downer...tracks steps, distance, calories...thought would upgrade to something that does HR and all the fancy stuff...to get rake in more points. Had a look at the prevailing prices, no thank you. This is my 5th year on Diamond, achieve it with no real effort.
 
I actually came across this now. Seems to do the job of everything I wanted it to do.

Not that I know of. But it does everything the bit fit does.

I even went and got another one today for my mom who likes doing her walks everyday, this is safer than her carrying her phone around.
 
Hey guys, I have the device but my worry is it counts steps even when I'm driving, any suggestions on how to stop it from doing that?
