Saturday 28th January 2017 marks the last parkrun at the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria.

The VM parkrun has been running:) for over three years as a FREE weekly event, but VM Management now wants to charge parkrun, so as parkrun is FREE FOREVER we have no alternative but to close it.

Help make the final event one to remember. We are aiming to have the largest attendance of any of the more than 1000 parkruns in the World.

If you are already a parkrunner, bring your barcode and get there early (Before 0700) there WILL be congestion at the gate.

For those who do not know about parkrun, www.parkrun.co.za gives information and details on registering. Registration and participation is FREE at any parkrun anywhere in the world. Register once, print your barcode and Run, Jog, Walk or Stroll 5km.

It is gonna be epic !

Will miss the venue big time !

I personally think that is the best venue in Pretoria !

Because this topic is about the closure of the nearest parkrun to Centurion.

A parkrun opens in Bridgetown Cape Town on 28th January.

An alternative to VM opens in Valhalla Centurion on 4th February

A second parkrun opens in Port Elizabeth on 11th February
 
Possible not compared to VM but it is a fairly flat course on dirt and grass tracks, with plenty of easy access parking.
 
I'd love to go, but I don't think I want to deal with all the traffic and congestion to get in.
