100% - I can almost guarantee that I would never visit the Voortrekker monument for other reasons, but the fact that there is a park run there automatically puts it on my radar if am ever in the area on a Saturday morning.
Exactly. My grandfather's ashes is in the wall there and even I only visit it once every few years. My gran goes every few months, but only in the week.
If they just inform the runners that there will be an event on a given Saturday, people will obviously understand - don't bloody charge for it. I assume this drove the businesses on the premises (coffee shops etc.) down the sewer, and they quickly realised it - 5 and a half months isn't really a long gap.
