“Multisource is wasting its money”

Partially correct, but it is better to have duplication than having monopoly or duopoly, so we need Cell C, Telkom, Multisource and Neotel to keep Voda and MTN in line / check.

Agreed.. we need competition. They will find a way to profitable... lower prices = more users = more money IMHO.

Yes, because prices were so low when we only had MTN and Vodacom. Now look how expensive data is! /sarcasm

Having four, five, or six wireless network operators in South Africa all building their own networks is not sustainable in the long run.

I am going to agree with this statement. For every area of human footprint, we must have 4 - 6 towers built to cover it? For this reason, the thought of having every operator building its own network infrastructure throughout SA makes no sense. Telkom and Cell C cannot match the spend of VC and MTN, which logically means that their network quality will never match VC and MTN.

The concept that you have 2 infrastructure operators who charge a equitable and regulated commercial fee to the operator wanting to use their network, in the long run, would benefit consumers most. The differentiator between mobile operators must be the service provided and cost of that service (and perhaps the network coverage they operate on).

If you want to build one network and all service providers need to use it, then the one building it and maintaining it needs to be neutral.

Therefore, it must not be Vodacom or MTN.

Opinion from the failed network in the duopoly.
