Google unveils new Hangouts

I always liked Hangouts, but I think Discord is the better choice now.
 
Hangouts is great if your company uses Gmail/G Suite for business.

I use it every day, all the time to communicate with fellow employees.

Still think it's the only truly cross platform app out there that works properly...excluding Windows Mobile which nobody uses anyway.

Skype is multi-platform yes...but their mobile apps are shockingly ***.
 
I don't care about hangouts, and neither does anybody else I know about. We're still waiting for a straight forward way to just message someone or post on a page and not as a comment to a post.

Dunno. The IBM solution - Sametime still slaughters Hangouts in terms of productivity.

e.g. Hangouts - its very difficult to tell who is online & who isn't...there is a solid 20 min delay / fuzziness on the "online" indicator. Sametime...the "online" indicator is accurate to within a second of people locking their PC. Plus Hangouts doesn't have a built in snipping tool...thats a killer for productivity when you're trying to convey what you're looking at to someone on the other side of the earth.

That said having hangouts on the phone is convenient...can answer the queries minions have while on lunch break.
