Microsoft adds OneDrive adverts to Windows 10 File Explorer

Turn off OneDrive ads in Explorer
In the Start Search, type File Explorer Options and click on the result. This will open the File Explorer Options – earlier called Folder Option – settings box. While the cause and specifications are being debated, the workaround would be as follows:

Click on the ‘View’ tab and then uncheck the ‘Show Sync Provider Notifications’ checkbox.

Click Apply and restart your File Explorer.

The Explorer ads will stop displaying now.

Actually those instructions are not very good for persons who don't know WIN 10 too well.

Here are the steps a bit more clearly stated.


Launch File Explorer and click View > Options.
Select/click on "Change Folder and Search Options"
The Folder Options will be displayed.
Select the View tab.
Scroll down to near the bottom of the list of advanced settings.
Uncheck the option labeled "Show sync provider notifications".
Click on "Apply"
Click OK.
 
so ads, in a product you have (most likely not actually) already paid for?

We love complaining about MS and Windows.

BUT what about Google? and all of its nonsense that eats up resources on your devices? No one ever seems to make a noise about that?

In my opinion Google and all of its bloatware it forces down your throat on your smart devices is far worse than MS.

So Kevin, in the interests of balanced and unbiased reporting, how about an article on all the cr@p that Google forces down our throats?

Update: Please note that most of these "ads" are only a problem if you sign in with a MS account, which I have long stopped doing for many other reasons.

I dislike almost everything about OneDrive. It intuitively knows how to get in the way

I agree Google does ram it down your throat as well
 
Does this only pop up if you actually use OneDrive, and you are in your OneDrive folder in Explorer?

Or just use Total Commander, a file manager that actually makes sense.

It would not make much sense to advertise to people who already bought the product, would it?
 
lelz, this is like 60's salespeople that throw dirt on your floor as you open the door so they can sell you a vacuum cleaner.

Don't know as I have long ago implement the "fix" suggested in this thread.

Total Commander nogal. Now that is a blast from the past. Talk about some of us hanging on to old software ......

We all have our foibles and beliefs. Never understood why people were so enamoured with that sw. But hey it works for you and that is good enough for me.
