South African Internet speeds – 2007 to 2016

Average speeds. Doesn't really paint an accurate picture. People do Speed Tests when they suspect their internet connection is slow, or when they want to show off to a friend.
 
I'm thinking the average must be too high in the sense that many people still connect with 3G devices which often do not even reach 1MB/s despite theoretical speeds of 7.2 (HSPA) or 21.6Mbit/S (HSPA+), even in supposedly well-covered areas. I guess it must be stated whether we are dealing with effective speeds or not.

But many new and older midrange cell phones (old Samsung A3) and all the flagships are LTE.
 
Q2 2016 was when Telkom introduced their LTE FUP and their sorry excuse for a network tried to keep up with the demand :crylaugh:
