You can normally check it on the warranty check page there be a parts list link, originally shipped, and it'll say TN or IPS somewhere next to the part spec for the lcd panel.

So I've read up a bit more and it seems that the viewing angles on IPS are meant to be better. This screen seems great with that but I can't confirm unfortunately!
