I got a link from Bargains 24 to get an extra 50GB of VPN free each month, on top of the 10GB:
http://www.bargains24.co.za/content...nth-using-promo-code-normally-10gb-windscribe

Also found a lifetime deal for $49 expiring today:
https://stacksocial.com/sales/windscribe-vpn?aid=a-0m8ddxmy

Granted "lifetime" deals are a bit dodgy but as long as the company is just using it to gain initial market traction and doesn't do it continuously to oversubscribe/screw up the contention ratios on their servers. I have noticed that lifetime deal trend, early adopters get amazing deals.

Tried it out and very cool, good speeds and add-ons for Chrome and Firefox and desktop, has VPN locations all over the world incl SA and no they have no logs(if that matters to you). Also the dev is active on Reddit, always a good sign when it's not some nameless russian running the vpn from from their basement :D

Anyone else tried this service?

And by the by also found this deal to get a 5GB tunnelbear free account, just follow the link in the page:
http://www.techradar.com/news/the-best-free-vpn
Tunnel bear is ok they don't allow P2p traffic though.

Nobody?
Are there any free VPN's avail with SA servers, I prefer not to use intl servers for banking etc

The free tier does not allow access to the South African servers.
With windscribe that is true but I'm asking if there are any free vpn services with local servers, don't need much bandwidth.

Lifetime offer for $49 again. Here : https://www.engadget.com/2017/07/06/windscribe-vpn/

Am looking for the catch though
Early adopters get the deals, I've seen it a good few times with various products, there'll be some smartass gloating about his ridiculously cheap lifetime license while we have to pay through the neck for whatever service it is. It also allows a company to quickly ramp up a user base, spread the word etc.

One of the windscribe founders is active on reddit, responds to requests etc, seems very legit. If you need a high data Vpn it's very good value, even if it only lasts for a yr or 2 then it's still a win and if they become established and honour it then amazing value, especially seeing a decent vpn costs $10pm. Those that have bought the lifetime license says the expiry in the account section shows 2026, Windscribe says it will renew them again for free at that date, suppose a way to manage the license/expectation. Probably worth a shot.

I don't really need much bandwidth but handy to have all the server locations worldwide, always something you want to browse or watch and region blocked, incl Sa for banking on public WiFi etc.

Hello all. Thread necro. I have had the Windscribe add on for Chrome for a while and now and again would use it but not extensively. Installed the android app now. It seems to like to connect to server in Romania and it works fine, but was wondering now how the Windflix works for Netflix in America and also the South African servers (did a speed test while connected to Romanian server and latency is really bad and download speed is about 6 mbps)....so thinking South African server might be a good idea.

It is $2.00 PM for the US Windflix server and the South African server in total. Worth it? OH....get 30GIG data to use in Windscribe with that price. Thoughts?

Yes but get the unlimited data with ROBERT adblocking as well. So for $3 Windflix US, SA and unlimited data. You can also keep an eye out for Stacksocial deals. Last black friday you could've gotten Pro for only $1 per month (3 year deal at $36).

Awesome. And does the Windflix work? I was under the impression that Netflix have found a way to block these VPN services?

Yes it works great. I haven't had any issues with it yet. WS uses Wireguard internally and they redirect Netflix via residential IP's. They will soon roll it out to all servers as well.

EDIT: You can also ask the Garry support chatbot on their website for a Pro trial (AFAIK it's a one day trial) and then you can play around.

Chuck in an additional $1 to get uncapped data - especially if using for netflix.
That's exactly what I use and it works well for me.

Have started using it for the current internet outage but didn't know they do Netflix things, I've been using Getflix and it works well, but will try the Windflix and see how it compares

I did it today. Built my plan for access to just the Windflix US server + South African server and with Robert with unlimited data. $3.00

R.o.b.e.r.t works well :) Enjoy!

Also, if you find your corporate network blocks you, try switching off wifi - connecting to windscribe and re-enabling wifi. Somehow it works for me. :)

Windscribe's smart dns service ControlD is launching in beta next month as well.

Also join the play store beta test. New version connects super fast and a new beta is likely to drop tonight.

Windflix seems to work, but was struggling with buffering. Using the BF's Telkom LTE router .... so perhaps it is the broken undersea cables causing issues?

Guys, just out of interest. I am not so technically minded. So with Windscribe VPN plugin on Chrome browser, if I am on the company wifi (which runs through a firewall), they cant see what sites etc I am visiting in the browser? So they cant see for example I am visiting mybroadband.co.za for example? I also have the Windscribe app on my phone which is also connected to the company wifi. They wont for example see if I use Grindr for example (which I dont anymore). Just curious as to what the VPN does exactly.
