ICASA must regulate mobile data prices – ISPA

Probably some shady brown envelopes being passed under the desk to make sure this process takes forever, if it actually happens.
We all know how mtn "does" business...and I bet vodacom isn't too far off that mark either.

Why would the mobile operators stall the process?

No.

Leave the free maket alone.

Let people vote with the wallet.

ICASA then, not the mobile operators.

*Why* do you think ICASA's dragging their feet?

m/vc: Hey ICASA, I may or may not have dropped a brown envelope on the floor under the table.
ICASA: Mah n-word!

BTW: I'm not saying this is what's happening...but I wouldn't at all be surprised.

The mobile operators would be shooting themselves in the foot by not getting the spectrum they need.
ICASA is simply useless at the moment, and have not done anything constructive is the last few years.
I would not be surprised to find that they have lost all their technical expertise (not too surprised from past dealings).

Ah ok, I see which angle you're coming from.

This.

If people were really worried about the price of data then Vodacom wouldn't have the most subscribers.

Most people aren't.

You cant really say that. Just because people are making the choice to stay with a particular network that you dont like does not mean they are not voting with their wallet. A vote to stay is just as valid. People might be taking other factors into consideration, not just price, and based on that, they are still voting with their wallet, even if it is a vote to stay where they are.

No, it's clearly not a vote with their wallet if everyone is complaining over what they pay.

I voted with my wallet. Twice, and I am back with Vodacom due to QOS. Price plays a big part, but there are other factors that others will take into consideration also, not just price. A vote to stay or go back is just as legitimate as a vote to leave. Just because it is a vote you do not agree with does not mean the people that stays with Vodacom does not have legitimate reasons for doing so.
