Intel Core i9 vs AMD Ryzen Threadripper – South African pricing

I would love to own a threadripper, but I have no real reason to own one, other that just wanting one....
 
A huge differentiation is also the difference in PCIe lanes, Core i9 at 44 vs Threadripper at 64.
 
You can connect 4 GTX 1080 Ti's to a Threadripper at 16x PCIe speed while you with an i9 you get 2 @ 16x, 1 @ 8x and 1 @ 4x.

What use is four 1080 Ti's if Nvidia only supports 2-way SLI now?

They can always program 4 way SLI, and maybe he can game on 2 and mine currency with the other 2?

Hell, he can then still encode or run other stuff with some of the cores and still game.
