Would recommend that you uninstall this app if you have it on your computer, or at least make sure you don't have the compromised version.

Uninstall anyway. For most people, running CCleaners is like doing genetic engineering with your eyes closed.

Oh... I already considered it malicious software, or risky, whatever. I don't touch those kind of things.

I wouldn't touch Avast Antivirus software with a barge pole.

Avast and AVG turned very spammy a few years back.

Avast isn't spammy if you pay for it

Out of the two, I would go for Avast. It's rescued many of my friends computers where AVG had failed.

You need it because the build in Windows solutions are wofully inadequite and useless. Apps that can't be uninstalled, useless registry etc.

Free versions were never that spammy in the past. AVG even worse now.

I totally agree with this but that can pretty much be said for the entire internet these days.
It's either spammy or you have to pay for something.
