Gumpert Apollo Intensa Emozione

The Apollo IE marks the return to the truest, most organic form of the hyper-car. Created from a blank sheet of paper, the IE is the beginning of the next chapter of Apollo. Our flagship hyper-car that represents the ethos of the brand.

From the beginning, our team set out to build a car that is lightweight, aerodynamically efficient and connected, but unimpeded by any emotionally dilutive technological systems. During the course of achieving this goal we poured in heart and soul, sweat and tears. The journey itself was intensely emotional.

The IE is a superleggera that combines the aerodynamic efficiency and mechanical grip of a modern GT1/GT3/LMP race car with the classical thrill of a high-revving naturally aspirated V12. This car has an organic granularity that other modern hyper-cars strive for, but are unable to deliver. All this while featuring a modern, intensively striking design language that symbolizes the brand.

This is a car that captures the lost emotion and fading spirit of the cars we grow up loving.

A car with its own soul. A car that provides the driver with modern, yet nostalgically pure, unadulterated sensory experience. A car that is fuel for the senses. A car that lives and breathes with intense emotion.

This is Intensa Emozione. This is the Apollo IE.

THE NAME

Quite literally, "Intensa Emozione" means intense emotion. These two simple words carry great significance - they are the backbone of everything we do, they describe the journey we trekked, they are the final product of our passion.

We want Apollo to be known as a brand with passion, ideal and demands. Not only have we built a hyper-car with world class performance, but we made certain that this machine is a true event to drive. Our intense emotions motivated and inspired us.

DESIGN

The Apollo IE embarks on a new chapter to ground an intensively striking design language that symbolizes the brand. Pushing the boundaries of design, engineering and extensive applications of exotic materials. The IE's radical body surfaces are sculpted for tremendous efficiency and highly optimized functionality, reflecting and inspired by tactile fighter jets to apex predators such as sharks and raptors.

The body of the IE narrates the language of the movement of airflow. The idea of the IE is to pierce through and manipulate the air around and also through the vehicle. The convergence of the body panels illustrates radical depth of surfaces and stunning continuity of the body lines. A narrow teardrop shaped glass house allows the IE to achieve its stunning, bold and balanced proportions. Acuate creases and exposed wheels facilitates precise streamlining of airflow whilst resulting in a lightweight appearance grounded by powerful stance. Structural supports such as the rear spine and wing mounts are designed in order to achieve and sustain over 1350 kgs of downforce.

Every part of the Apollo IE is designed for highly functional purposes with a radical approach on style. Prominent elements such as the striking shark like nose, distinctive side aero fins, large angled wing mounts and the trident exhausts, make it instantly recognizable as an Apollo.

ENGINE

No turbos. No hybrid systems. A proper balance of old and new.

The Apollo IE is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.3 liter V12 engine. This ICE unit produces in excess of 780hp and 760Nm of torque. The power unit was developed in partnership with our partner, Autotecnica Motori, and revs to 9,000rpm.

The IE features three engine Map-modes selected by the driver: Wet, Sport, Track - The selection is indicated on "Engine Map page" on main Display.

The decision to refrain from using any emotionally dilutive technological systems, such as hybridization, was made to deliver a modern, yet nostalgically, pure, unadulterated sensory experience.

THE LIMITED RUN

To maintain exclusivity, we will only build one sole batch of 10 units of the Apollo IE, each to the highest degree of customization requested by its owner.

Those who order the Apollo IE will be granted exclusive access to the Time Attack program, that will be run by Apollo on the most relevant European racing circuits, and will also gain priority rights to order the future sibling of the Apollo IE, the Arrow, which is scheduled to see the light in 2019.

We also offer a unique opportunity for our clients to partake in the fine tuning development process of the IE and the development of the future Apollo cars from the beginning. IE owners will be invited to accompany Team Apollo to private testing sessions. This bespoke and personal experience allows IE owners to see what goes on behind the scenes during the development process of a new car and have the opportunity for their input play a role. A privilege only a select few in the world can claim.

APOLLO INTENSA EMOZIONE REVEALED WITH 6,3-LITRE V12

In a world where manufacturers are pushing the hypercar limits thanks to hybrid technology, the new Apollo Intensa Emozione is something of an oddity. Why? Well, it employs a hefty naturally aspirated 6,3-litre V12…

According to the boutique manufacturer, this engine, developed in partnership with Autotecnica Motori and revving to 9 000 r/min, sends its 582 kW and 760 N.m of torque to the rear wheels through a Hewland six-speed sequential transmission.

The result of this – with the help of an overall mass of 1 250 kg, sticky Michelin tyres and LMP-like aerodynamics – is a claimed 0-100 km/h time of just 2,7 seconds and a top speed of 335 km/h. That aero design is apparently capable of generating 1 350 kg of downforce at 300 km/h.

The low kerb mass was achieved largely through the use of a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis, which weighs in at just 105 kg, including the front and rear subframes, along with body panels fashioned from the same lightweight material.

The aggressively styled Intensa Emozione rides on an F1-inspired double-wishbone set-up with full push-rod and rocker arm suspension at both the front and rear, along with anti-roll bars. It furthermore boasts adjustable dampers provided by Bilstein.

Stopping power comes courtesy of a set of Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes. Both the front and rear employ 380 mm discs, but the fronts use six-piston callipers and the rear four-piston callipers.

Michelin Pilot Cup2 tyres (265/35 front and 325/30 rear) have been wrapped around a set of 20-inch front and 21-inch rear BBS wheels, although track-spec 300/680 R18 front and 310/700 R18 rear Michelin racing slicks are also offered for circuit work.

The Apollo Intensa Emozione bears a base price of €2 300 000 (that’s about R37,7-million). And just 10 examples will be built.

£2m Apollo Intensa Emozione track hypercar revealed with 769bhp

V12-engined brute can hit 62mph in 2.7sec and a 208mph top speed

Apollo, the company born from the ashes of Gumpert, has launched a V12-engined hypercar called the Intensa Emozione.

Due in just 10 units and priced from £2.05 million each, the two-seater is a track-only model that uses a naturally aspirated 12-cylinder producing 769bhp. The engine produces 560lb ft and redlines at 9000rpm.

The car is built on an all-carbon structure featuring a roofless tub that weighs just 105kg and carbon bodywork. As such, the Intensa Emozione weighs only 1250kg, giving it a power-to-weight ratio of 615bhp/tonne. The 0-62mph dash takes a claimed 2.7sec, a tenth quicker than the McLaren P1, and top speed is quoted as 208mph.

The Intensa Emozione's exterior has aggressive aerodynamic features including a large, fixed rear wing, rear diffuser and vertical fin. Apollo said the car generates so much grip that it can reach 2g of lateral force when cornering and produces 1350kg of downforce at 186mph.

Apollo chairman Norman Choi said the new model wasn’t electrified because “we felt that all the technological advancement and automation in today’s supercars took away the pure, raw emotional connection between driver and car”.

The Intensa Emozione appears heavily inspired by the Apollo Arrow concept at the 2016 Geneva motor show. Apollo said last year that the production version of the Arrow track car would be followed by a less extreme road version, leaving the door open for the Intensa Emozione to be produced in road form.

Apollo has connections with fellow supercar maker Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus and it was previously reported that the two companies would work together in the development of future models. However, no link has been announced for the Intensa Emozione.

Apollo IE Hypercar Sold Out Ahead Of Production

German hypercar manufacturer Apollo has announced that build slots of the forthcoming hypercar called the Intensa Emozione (IE) have been sold out. This means that all 10 units Apollo intends to build now have owners already.

In an interview with Motor Authority, an Apollo spokesperson announced that all 10 build slots of the IE hypercar each costing $2.71 million (around R40 million) have been sold out. The German hypercar maker has also revealed that there will be a track-only version sold to more committed buyers.

Although unclear of the number of track-only units to be build, the company did state that the model is included in the 10-unit production run rather than adding to ten road-legal cars. More of the track-only units is yet to be revealed, but the company has announced that this model will sport even more outrageous bodywork with a carbon-fibre front splitter that can withstand 1,360 kg of downforce.

As previously reported, Apollo is working alongside HWA – the team behind Mercedes-AMG’s CLK GTR GT1 in developing the IE. All ten of these models will be fitted with a Ferrari-derived 6.3-litre normally-aspirated V12 engine. While road-going models are expected to get around 780 hp (581 kW), in the track toys this engine will be stretched to over 1,000 hp (745 kW) boasting a rev-limiter that’s over 11,000 rpm.

Some details of the Intensa Emozione are still under wraps, but with Apollo looking to start deliveries in 2019, it shouldn’t be long until it we get full info on the hypercar.

$2.7 Million Apollo IE Is Ready For Production

We’re all aware that Apollo Automobil has revived the company what used to be known as Gumpert with the Apollo Intensa Emozione (IE). However, it has been more than 2 years since the prototype was shown to petrolheads all over the world leaving us wondering, when is something actually going to happen with this crazy V12 beast? Good news, though, because the Apollo IE is ready for production.

Don’t expect the same car as the prototype, though, because a substantial amount has changed for the production version. First up, is an all-new chassis. Apollo has teamed up with German motorsport gurus, HWA AG to develop what is supposedly the first carbon-fibre production chassis of its kind. This does not just include a carbon monocoque, but carbon sub frames and crash structures as well. Another reason to get excited about this is that this chassis has been developed and designed to, “meet and to partly exceed respective FIA LMP2 safety requirements”. So, seeing that a new hypercar class will be coming to Le Mans in the near future, we could be seeing an Apollo IE fighting it out there.

Arguably the most exciting part of the IE is the engine. Propelling this car is a 6.3-litre, naturally-aspirated V12 engine. It will be pumping out 780 HP (582 kW) with 759 Nm of torque and will rev to a glorious 9000 rpm. This means that the car will reach 0-100 km/h in a mere 2.7 seconds and go on to reach 33 km/h. Considering it weighs only 1250 kilograms, will produce 1350 kilograms of downforce at 300 km/h and have a 6-speed sequential gearbox, expect to see this car attacking a track near you.
