I have noticed many cars in Gauteng are much cheaper than they are in KZN with lower Km's.

So, we do have family in Gauteng that can always check the cars out but it's always better when you go and check them out yourself.

Would I be able to negotiate the price of a car in Durban by comparing it to a similar one in Gauteng that's cheaper and has lower km's or is the salesperson just going to tell me " You can't because that car is in Gauteng"

Has anyone been able to bring down the price of a car by comparing to one in another province ?

They'll just tell you they can't negotiate....

Bring the car down from Gauteng instead... thats what I intend doing when I get my next vehicle, screw the local boys who think the sun shines out their arse and that I need their vehicle.

I always thought it was the other way around, with cars at the coast being cheaper due to the rust factor, lower demand etc.

Nope...

Not anymore unfortunately...
Ppl down at the coast have elevated sense of what their rust bucket is worth.

I don't get it. Go to a KZN dealership and try? If it doesn't work, come to GP.

I'm In the same situation. I'm looking for a second hand vehicle and for a same year model and mileage the difference is up to 25k. It's just crazy. Are the dealers making more money in natal? How do they justify it?

Yes, you can negotiate a little on car price.

I contacted dealers from Durban and Gauteng (Hyundai) and compared prices as well as additional extras.

I then went back to my local dealer and showed the comparison of 3 quotations. They contacted Hyundai SA and gave me the lowest price of the 3 quotations

A bit of work on your part, but it saved me R25k
