My experience with Vodacom customer care has been less than spectacular which is why I’m moving away from them.

I see @Ockie doesn’t get involved in this stuff any more which is a loss to the little customer service they had, but I also fully understand that.

Is there a simple way to just point and click somewhere to “switch” to Prepaid after contract ends.

Basically tell them you are canceling the contract and want the number migrated to prepaid - it should not be any trouble but they will try an prolong the process - unfortunately no place to just choose to switch :(
Once on prepaid you can load vodacom airtime or can port to any other network.

Some Vodacom stores used to do it as well - just ask them if they canmigrate your number to prepaid.

We can no longer do it at store/dealer level. They took that functionality away from us. You have to call 0821958. Only way.

Thanks dude!

My next best option was tracking you down on Telegram. :)

Should I do this before contract end or once it's happened?

Unless your intro message on my Telegram included a dick pick I most likely would not have responded. :p

Does not really matter. Unless they have changed that also, a prepaid conversion once the contract has come to a end can be completed same day as you make the request. Keep in mind all minutes, data etc bundles will be lost.

Awesome, will call them now then.

And as for the dick pics...you'd need to take me to dinner first.

That was fairly painless. Now let's see if they manage to do it right come end of the month.

If it was MTN, you have reason to worry.
Considering this very same contract got magically restarted 6 months after it was upgraded and I'm still waiting for Vodacom to find the contract paperwork to prove it I generally don't hold my breath.

Same reason I'm buggering off.

Something fishy is going on.

Called 0821958 to cancel and got the following message after phone call.

Dear account holders name

your quotation has been processed [reference number ]

Use order number [ different to above reference number] when contacting vodacom customer care.

Agent claims contract will be cancelled next month but the wording of above sms has me paranoid.Where did order number come from,I explicitly asked to cancel and move to prepaid.

There wasnt any follow up sms from Vodacom confirming when contract will end etc.

Is this normal?

Thanks to this thread, I called the number and had every intention of moving my contract over to prepaid. Except the lady on the other end offered me a contract again couldnt resist R200 airtime and 2gigs for R139pm? Kind of feel like its too good to be true, did I misunderstand her?

My wife is calling them now to switch to prepaid, she will then check MTN and Telkom out, their deals in general are SO much better than Vodacom.
Also the option to add data via Axxess/Afrihost sub would be a bonus as she run's out data quickly on Vodacom for some reason.

Lol. Still on vodacom but with a decent deal I guess - they upgrading to iPhone 8+ 64gb , R789pm, 200 min, 200 sms, 5.5 gig data.

I hope for your sake it wasn’t something silly like a once off 2gb bundle or some such.

I simply cannot trust these guys without the paperwork in front of me any more and even then they manage to get it wrong.

I knew it was just too good to be true to trust these Vodacom mother****ers to actually get it right.

31st (not the 1st I might note) my airtime disappears and my package changes to prepaid...bizarrely the data bundle remains in tact.

No drama. 1st comes along and I initiate the porting to FNB connect and it's an utterly magical experience to be honest because it just works. No bull****, no drama no hassle.

2nd of February...Vodacom debit orders me for a contract that has ended for a number that no longer exists.

Remember, usage is billed in arrears, so it is normal to have a debit order early in the next month after the contract has been cancelled.
