Vox is crooked.

I have been with Vox Telecom on Openserve Fibre for a while and I was notified about a price increase:

The line I have with Vox is a standalone 100Mbps line with no data account. I had been paying R749 for it since I signed up. No issues, I pay for what I get and it's a fair price.

Then, suddenly I noticed my usual debit amount goes up:

Ok... what the hell? The pricing from Openserve has not gone up. In fact, it's gone down and other ISPs have been adjusting their prices accordingly. I then looked at Vox's current pricing for new clients:

So, as a long time client I am paying more for less? I am on the same month to month contract.

Really trash.
 
Just move to Cool Ideas... let your wallet do the talking - they'll learn soon enough

Sucks right? So the supposed average was increase was 6.3%. This year I got hit with an 8.2% increase.

The last increase was only 3.9%.

They're probably the only ISP I know which has an annual price increase. It goes without saying that a contract of any kind with these guys should be avoided at all costs.

I've also been a Vox client since 2006.
 
The most ridiculous thing with respect to the OP, is that if a new customer signs up for the exact same service, they'll get to pay the old rate, until the next increase. So basically, the longer you've had a service with them, the more you'll pay.

Seems very much like a bait and switch tactic to me.

In my case, it's for a special service they no longer offer, so I just have to bite the bullet until it becomes too expensive.

I have a number of business and home services with Vox and I have encountered a numerous issues with this recent price increase. Firstly I did not receive any form of communication about this increase, After lots of back and forth about SMTP handover proof etc they eventually admited their system did send the notification emails.

What really got to me was the fact that the price notification said that, " has limited this increase, across our services portfolio and customer base, to an average of 6.3%."
While most of my services did go up in and around this amount, what really blew my mind was an over 12% increase on some services. This service has never gone up by such a drastic amount, in previous years their yearly price increase has been about 4% to 5%, which is a little easier to swallow. I am under the imperssion that no other ISP's have this yearly increase?

Another service which was increased was business fibre products, which were still within the initial contract term. So two issues with this one, how can they change the price of a product which is still within the initial contract term and why is the price for fibre increasing, whereas all other forms of internet connection prices are dropping and even some fibre suppliers have reduced their pricing. WTF
 
I've been in the process of cancelling my Vox account after they billed me for installation that I indicated (up front) that I wouldn't accept unless it was free (as I was already a Vox subscriber - just changing address). Over the phone they agreed to it but 3 months later I'm being billed for installation, their reasoning being that I didn't give enough notice when cancelling from my prior address.... remember that word... 'cancelling'

The latest in the saga is that Vox are billing me a termination fee. The foundation of this termination fee is - according to Vox - based upon the terms and conditions i agreed to in their e-acceptance quote. Problem is my quote references 'attached' terms and conditions, however, in looking over the original email, I noticed that there were no attachments. I brought this to Vox's attention asking how they could enforce terms and conditions I was never given. Their response is priceless, telling me now that my account was 'migrated'. Notice the contradiction? Getting billed for not giving enough cancellation notice and then being told that you are liable as your account was migrated. Which is it?

At Vox you get to have your cake and eat it too.

That's one of Vox's fav stunts, mweb likes to do that too...
