Inxeba producers to fight pornography classification

Because of course they are.

They’ll win too and the movie will have had front page news coverage instead of a quarter column in the entertainment section... Exposure the producers undoubtedly couldn’t afford to buy.

The FPB really, really don’t know how to play this game, do they?

Out of curiosity I decided to watch the movie, it doesn't even qualify for pornographic classification, there are only 3 raunchy scenes, in all 3 scenes their private parts are not shown although there is nudity, the scenes are also not long, max 30 seconds.

So there's something fishy going on.

Very I was shocked actually when they changed the rating. It essentially killed the film completely. Can only be distributed by adult shops. I mean really that was a bit excessive. Someone at FPB that did not like the film killed it. Now if it gets overturned the film will once again be in the spot light.

Unless the FPB are in on this ploy to make the Movie more popular by incorrectly classifying it and trying to get it banned...

Somewhat like what SARS tried to do with The Presidents Keeper... Its almost as if this lot have never had an original idea or thought before and just have to copy everyone else.

/tinfoil hat off/

Nah, they're just being bigots, looking the composition of the council & ministry being majority Xhosa, my theory is that they were pressured to block it after they failed with the protests.

What is the movie about, is it locally made?

I hope they win their fight. Absolutely ridiculous the movie is seen as hardcore porn. Conservatives and bigots just jealous because someone else is making good coins from cultural flaws.

some tribal leader council complained, said it made them look bad.

i thought it was a good movie. good quality. something worth of the international market.

if this is a bad publicity stunt then hopefully it works.. if they really blocked it because of tribalism etc. then well.. africa gets called names on the school grounds

Pretoria high court lifted the pending rating change. Film heading back to cinemas...

Its about the circumcision ritual ("going to the bush")... people are sad because it shows all their secrets.

Also two of the guys in the move go full brokeback mountain.... I suspect that is why its getting the porn rating.

Xhosa circumcision rituals and homosexuality. A Xhosa Brokeback Mountain, if you will.

I'm watching it as soon as I can. Just to spite the FPB.

Lol, no wonder they tried to ban it, those traditional guys don't take kindly to those kind of revelations.
