So those of us who are Early.Connect Customers direct with Rain, will now become Afrishiet customers. Below details of e-mail I have received.

Wonder if we will still retain our same packages and price (mine is R198.00 = 100GB)? If not, fibre here I come. As I understand it, we get a month's free interwebs while this migration is taking place.

(TL;DR - Rain's Early Connect program is ending, and customer's will be migrated to Afrihost).

Dear ‘Early Connect’ Customer,

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Please read the important information below carefully as it has a direct impact on both your relationship with Rain (Pty) Ltd (“the Company”) as well as the LTE-A service you currently receive.

Background:
1. ‘Early Connect’ customers are those former iBurst customers who migrated technologies from the now defunct ‘iBurst” to the new Rain LTE-A technology.
2. This migration occurred pursuant to a ‘deal sheet’ entered into between the company (Rain (Pty) Ltd) and yourself.
3. The ‘deal sheet’ sheet set out the terms and conditions for the use of the Rain Fixed LTE-A service and specifically the monthly fee payable by you and the monthly allocation of data that you were entitled to.
4. The ‘deal sheet’ contemplated termination of the agreement on 31 August 2017 – but shall be extended on a month-to-month basis.
Current Situation:
In accordance with an agreement reached between Rain and Afrihost SP (Pty) Ltd (“Afrihost”), Rain will cede all its interests in and ownership over your account to Afrihost over a period not exceeding four weeks.

What does this mean?
1. Rain will raise its final invoice and payment run on or around 28 February 2018.
2. The subscription so levied is for the April billing period (ending 30 April 2018).
3. Rain will transfer your details to Afrihost who will:
• Offer continuity of service on a month-to-month basis, provided that:
o Your account remains paid and up to date.
o You accept the general terms and conditions as published by Afrihost from time to time.
 Afrihost Terms and Conditions >> https://www.afrihost.com/site/page/terms_and_conditions .
 Afrihost Privacy Policy >> https://www.afrihost.com/site/page/privacy_policy
 Afrihost Acceptable Use Policy >> https://www.afrihost.com/site/page/acceptable_use_policy
• Migration will be possible provided that any migration (upwards or downwards) is to a standard LTE-A package as offered by Afrihost from time to time.
• Afrihost reserves the right to terminate the existing packages at its convenience – subject to you their terms and conditions .
• Provide support for the product through their extensive support channels.
• Provide you access to their ‘ClientZone’ where you will be able to, inter-alia:
o Check your usage and receive usage notifications;
o Subscribe to additional services; and
o Top-Up your data should you run out.

What do I need to do?
If you agree to having your account transferred to Afrihost as detailed above – then no action is necessary.

I don’t want to move to Afrihost.
1. If you do not wish to have your account transferred to Afrihost you are required to complete the following web-accessible form by NO LATER THAN 20 MARCH 2018:
2. Complete this form is you do not wish to have your account transferred to Afrihost. Click here.
What will happen if I complete the form and elect NOT to move to Afrihost?
The agreement between Rain and yourself will terminate either:
• On 30 April 2018; or
• Such earlier date should you be in default of your agreement with Rain; or
• Your account falls into arrears – which will result in suspension and/or termination.
Whichever event shall occur first in time.

Because of the termination noted above your service will cease to function and you are free to engage with the internet service provider (“ISP”) of your choice should you require continuity of service. The router remains your property and you are free to deal with it as you see fit.

In Summary:
If you do nothing then you agree to the transfer of your account to Afrihost and you agree to continue to pay your monthly subscription to Afrihost and your LTE-A service will continue to work.

If you complete this form, your agreement with Rain will terminate and Rain will not transfer your account to Afrihost. This means that your LTE-A service will stop working on the termination date.

R198.00 = 100GB! Wow! You got a good deal. Will be sad if it changes.

Just re-reading through the terms in the mail received -
Migration will be possible provided that any migration (upwards or downwards) is to a standard LTE-A package as offered by Afrihost from time to time.
Based on this, it does not look as though I'll be able to retain my current package, so fibre here I come.
However -
If you do nothing then you agree to the transfer of your account to Afrihost and you agree to continue to pay your monthly subscription to Afrihost and your LTE-A service will continue to work.
Not sure if this can be interpreted as the subscription remains the same.
Anyone have any suggestions/thoughts?

But yeah - life's been good with this deal for what would be almost a year. Pity it has to change if it does. Otherwise I need to decide - OpenServe or Vumatel (I'm lucky to have a choice here). Once that is decided then which ISP - Cool Ideas, Vox and Rocketnet have my current attention.

Received clarity today from Rain regarding this.
Extract below on the email just received -

Will my monthly subscription change?
Not for now – your account will be transferred to Afrihost who will continue to bill the same amount as you currently pay to Rain. (Afrihost will only start billing from May 2018 onwards as Rain will collect the monthly subscription fees for March and April).
Remember that these packages are month-to-month and may be subject to change – but you will be notified of any changes in advance.

As such I will continue with what I have for now (Bargain for LTE). But knowing Afrihost- it won't be long before they amend this offer.

Always swore that I'd never become an Afrihost client - now I must eat humble pie.....

Update -
So last night I got a notification that my package had been successfully transferred to Afrihost.
This morning I check up on the info, and lo-and-behold - Afrihost has me down as a 20 GB package and not 100 GB.
Support ticket raised and am awaiting an eventual reply.

Not a good start AH! But why I am not surprised?

Anyone else on this migration experience any issues yet?

Good luck with that. It will take days before they respond. Like 3 to 4 days each time you create or reply to a ticket.

I got capped at 20 go this afternoon.... what now.

And I didn't get any mails. I don't even have a login :(

I'm trying to help my (clueless) father in law who got capped as well -- and he has no idea what his login is / was. I would think that it would have been his original iBurst address but Afrihost just says "Login details incorrect" when I try that email address and click "recover password".

Apparently he didn't even get an invoice from early.connect.

Ye dude.. apparently they sent an email to his email addy (for me it was my iburst email which hasn't worked in last 2years)

He must call Afrihost and give his ID etc. (or your ID if it's on your name). They will then check the username and reset the password for you.

account should be same with old Iburst. I had package 198, early connect with unlimited data(i believe), Now I only have 20Gig, but it was at early bird connect, we can't complain that Afihost did like this. But 20Gig is really little for home use.

So apparently they managed to find his account - more than a week after I logged a ticket. The email address was an old webmail one that he was no longer using in anycase. Must have been the email address that he signed up with at iBurst years ago.

He got Telkom uncapped fibre now so he cancelled Afrihost and Rain.
