SABC presenter taken off air over 'anti-Islamic' Facebook posts

The SABC has confirmed that one of its radio presenters has been taken off air after it was alleged that she made “hateful Islamophobic” posts on Facebook, which emerged last week.

It is the second time that LotusFM presenter Pauline Sangham has been suspended.

In October 2014, she was also taken to task after failing to fill in for another presenter on a graveyard show.

This time, Sangham who also doubles up as a producer, stands accused of incitement by largely Muslim listeners of the station.

It was initially just one anti-Islamic post, which raised the ire of listeners when she allegedly called Islam a “false religion”.

meh...all religions are false. I bet if you had said that about scientology nobody would have batted an eye but call the Islamic cult a false religion and people blow a fuse.

so lets say there was a radio station that scientologists predominantly listened to and the producer of that station said the same thing, it is your opinion the listeners won't react in a similar fashion?

Yeah, I would be spinning...from laughter. What exactly will the lawyers be doing with me? Nothing illegal about criticizing any religion. All reactions are based in emotion, not law.

Scientology however takes defamation litigation to brand new lows.
 
People in the media should be taken to task for their bias. Stick to facts and leave your opinions at home.

Can the mybb Muslim Internet Defense force explain to be how that is Islamophobic? Anyone who follows a monotheistic religion by definition has to hold the position that all the other religions are false.

She didn't say all religions other than Christianity are false though. She can hold the position that all the other religions are false, no problem. Selecting only one and broadcasting her position publicly is obviously going to piss off people who follow that one she's chosen to malign.
 
Can people stop sharing their opinions on social media. Has nobody learnt by now its a bad idea?

If it was Lotus FM isn't there a high chance she's a Hindu? You know, someone who adheres to a polytheistic religion.

So next time someone says that Christianity is stupid, I would be correct in saying that they are Chistophobic and they have to denounce all other religions as well.

No, she's Christian, Hindus are generally more tolerant of other religions
