Blocking WASPs at a network level – Mobile operators respond

Read the article in the most recent Noseweek; the service providers all seem to not care about anything other than raking in millions from subscribers being charged by these cretins
 
how many people are hit daily with "all of a sudden" subscriptions that they NEVER subscribed to! Take those monies, multiply it by how many millions of people hit at the same time, THEN you add the rand value paid for the "STOP ALL" smses sent & see what profit WASPS is making ILLEGALLY & THROUGH THEFT! There is NO other explaination or description as to what and how the conduct their business! It is NOT business, it is CYBER FRAUD!!! We have NO control over these because they just appear. When you realise your airtime is being deducted, it's already too late! Who can we go to for these IMMEDIATE REFUNDS??? Nobody! what happens to these people from WASP? Nothing! Their money has grown within seconds & others gained from this fraudulent activity! NOBODY can or MUST DARE tell me that I subscribed to BS like that because we are very well educated & know what is BS & WHAT NOT! & these SOBs are thieves & allowed to do it! I'm starting in fact to realise that WASPS belongs to the GOVT OF SA because there is NO difference in the way business is conducted!!! Can some legal companies please start taking these complaints seriously & realise that they do things like this when they want & we lose our monies!! I see & notice data is the next target that data is disappearing silently!! All settings on the phone device is set so save data yet even though the device is NOT being used, data is disappearing at a rate you cannot imagine!! You cannot justify 100mb gone in less than 20mins WITHOUT THE DEVICE BEING USED!!! Testing was done to prove it & who can explain this to me WITHOUT telling me it's back groud apps running! We know there are but when they are ALL CLOSED, its only the OS running! I'm sorry, I just think that reverting back to my phone that doesn't have internet doesn't even seem to be safe because STILL these WASP subscriptions happen. NOW HOW THE HELL DOES THAT HAPPEN?????

Few years back I was using a phone with gsm only (not even edge) after mine was stolen and got subscribed to some daily service thing.
 
I won't be satisfied until the operators provide for a setting in the network controllable by me to BLOCK ALL unwanted subscriptions of ALL types that ensures TOTAL deactivation .

Was recently victim to "unscrupulous billing" from Mira Networks on my MTN SIM. Reported it to the MTN fraud-line 2 weeks ago - no response - don't think they too concerned.

I reported Mira Networks to WASPA back in 2013. Mira then claimed that I willfully subscribed to the service and provided a fabricated log file of the date and time at which I opted in (which I didn't). WASPA simply closed the case as they had 'proof' I opted in.

So, I changed my approach, and contacted the Mira offices directly. Mira then claimed that they were simply aggregating another WASP which was billing me - and claimed they had no responsibility to refund me. After two weeks of solid harassment, swearing and being generally abusive towards the Russian lady answering their phones, I managed to get refunded the full amount.
