The Digicape salesman says the new intel iMac will only be in stock by April! The USA has had this pc for more than a week & UK & Irish dealers have it too. Anyone know why there is ALWAYS such an extended delay for us?
How can we get around this stupidity in a way that doesnt involve a long distance flight? (cheaper than waiting?)

I was tempted to pre-order the MacBook now but have decided to wait until rev b so they can work out all the bugs.

With size the iMac any of the usual ways to import are going to be costly (which is why I'm going the portable route).

It is because of the fact the Apple doesn't operate in SA yet.
I heard March from Project 3 though

I'm not that worried about rev a,b etc I think Apple have too much to lose if they mess up. Besides, intel has helped to make it a success. At 10kg I cant hide an iMac easily from customs :D What also is the poss/likelihood of new 64 bit products by April?

Thats what they said before about the "new revamped G5 iMac"! ... Steve J is full of suprises and 1st April is significant in some way to Apple (anniversary?) Also there is the question of a new mini or even a cut-down Power Mac Extreme (to give it a decent name).

I found it difficult to get any info from these guys (new mac? wazzat? doh!) and their website doesn't give intel any mention at all.

Skeptik : Their website is bad. But they are pretty good in person. They told me March

There hasn't been any denying about 64bit. The thing is that the processors they want to use aren't completed yet. Could maybe happen by year end in the new PowerMac (The processor is too expensive and power hungry for any of the other models)

I took the plunge and became what Apple call a "switcher". The new intel iMac 20"dual core rocks!
It's quite different from those PCs, and I mean more than hanging, crashing, viruses and the like. It's really a work of art this white shiny curvy thing in front of me.

hanging, crashing, viruses?? how come according to mac users us PC users all suffer from this? I know I don't, I have fewer problems with my PC than my friend with his powerbook.

Not disagreeing that macs are superior from a quality point of view. But PC's aren't as bad as mac users make them out to be.

I've only had it a few days but it is definitely more robust than windows. Multitasking is a dream with these dual cores.
