Dude, the whole of South Africa will probably start threads about this. EVERYONE should get a gmail account! :p

I've got some family members using telscum internet accounts. I've googled today and tried different mail servers and alternatives, but I can't find an easy, free, easy :p one to use :D ;)

All we can do is wait and maybe report it.

so are u telling me EVERYONE is having this problem?

Well, I am having this problem and you are having this problem. So far two of us has said something in this thread, so that makes us EVERYONE!! :D ;) :p :D

I am having this issue with both IS Email and my own mail server hosted at Rosebank.

Wonder if it the beast shaping email ports to hell?

Okay, for the average user: Here's a workaround.

Download this program:

http://www.postcastserver.com/download/release.aspx?p=3

I'm running it under Vista Ultimate with no problems. It's actually made for XP and prior, but it works with Vista. If you are installing it under Vista, there's one file in the installation that doesn't register, just click ignore and it will install.

Okay.

Open the program after installation.
Click settings>Hostname>choose the last one on the list

Mail sending frequency> change it to immediately> you can safely set the pause value to 1 minute

Advanced settings at the top> Choose how you want the program to start with windows>minimized etc.

If you are using a router, check the option> "allow the program to send messages inside LAN"

Now, in Outlook, Outlook Express or any other email client. Make your smtp server the same value as your hostname on the first settings page.

Make sure smtp port is 25, and make sure that authentication options for smtp are default and disabled.

Voila, your own local smtp server ;) :D :p

yeah i had this problem too....could receive but not send mail. Only got my ADSL account yesterday, but found on this forum that you need to use smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net as your outgoing server. why telkom cant tell you this is a mystery.

Btw. the saix smtp server used to require login details back when I posted in this thread.

Today, I just use smtp.saix.net which is about 80% faster than the telscum one ;)

Ciao
