Unable to logon to a Wireless AP with Vista

Hi there guys

I'm trying to log on to my Wirless AP with a Notebook running Vista. I have two Notebooks running XP that connects perfectly and it shares the Internet connection.

With the Vista notebook I can connect but I can't use the internet.

Any ideas??

Was having a very similiar problem with xp not long ago.

For me it turned out that WEP protection was set to the wrong number of something. For eg. if in the router setup my security settings had me using WEP default transmit key 3 then i had to find the equivalent setting on the laptop i was connecting with.

I hope thats not too vague
 
Since the card connects, I assume wep,wpa and pasword are onfigured correctly, check your gateway IP and make sure it's the same as the XP machines
 
I know it sounds counter-intuitive but my card would say "connected" and just wouldn't work. I f all else fails its at least worth a look...
 
a pre-configured encryption at times has this effect, the card status would say and hang in the status mode, "aquiring network address" or "connected", a way round this is to disable the encryption, allow the card to connect, surf a couple of pages then re-apply the encryption, then all seems to be as it should, just one of those odd things I guess.
