So Iburst have their own speed test now.

Will this give the fastest or most accurate line test for Iburst users because it is hosted by Iburst themselves?

I tried it and got 400kb, but it was during the day and my speed jumps around a bit. But this was comparable, actually very close, to the Telkom speed test.

They have also updated their site with brainwaves like "interesting sites" and some other junk, but there is a new Fax2Email feature which is free and does what you think it might do, but you get your own 0865 telephone number to for people to fax you on and you dont need a phone line obviously, faxes are only around 30kb or less.

Yah its pretty obvious, under your account on the main page, where your bandwidth meter is.

It uses the same java applet as the test on internetfrog.com btw..

Damn.. 844kb.. i geuss the speed test must be the best for us Ibursters?

  Well I'll give them 100% for effort and honesty then!

They could made it do something insanely dishonest like 1.5Mbps, but no....I got an honest 654kbps DL and 161kbps UL

Maybe I'll try when I'm done with my rapidshare and after closing all the applications. :D

Your d/l speed 895kbps
Your u/l speed 254kps

At 895kpbs, download a:
1 MB file in 9 sec
10 MB file in 2 min
100 MB file in 15 min

That is a nifty speed test. 743kbps down. 260kbps up.

And Iburst earn another noddy badge.

540kbps down
164kbps up

Go Kyalami ... bringing up the rear as usual.

735 down & 192 up on iBurst speed test

913 down on GamCo

741.8 down on Telkom

so Iburst speed test is pretty accurate

test in parallel

I set up 3 tabs in Firefox and then fired off the iBust test in parallel. Interesting results:
In parallel (down/up) 303/115 237/170 565/189

then ran the test single thread 883/150

Did it again 250/118 312/124 406/138

then in single thread 921/140 :D

Obviously the parallel tests ended one after the other, so speeds increased along the line.

3km from CSIR Menlo Park with no line of sight, IPCop, 18dB antenna, UTD

Your download speed is 52.1kbps
Your upload speed is 79.3kbps

hehehe i'm capped anyways :)

hmm.. so I read the thing on the front page about the fax2Email service I posted here, and it seems that Iburst make most of the R1.80 which it costs the sender to send you a fax.

Its still a good service and not too exorbitant, but I thought Iburst were giving us something free out of the *goodness* of their hearts, seems they just making more money off it.

Speed test inst bad though... geuss they balanced good and evil out this time.

Did their speed test and compared with the Telkom speed test (using an IS ADSL connection). Results came back within 5kbps of one another
