Oh please when did ICASA ever do anything for anyone? As usefull as tits on a bull. Everyone keeps on saying complain to ICASA etc. Nothing ever, ever happens. Closest we came was when ICASA said ADSL was waaaay over priced. Telkom responded almost immediatly by kicking SA broadband in the balls and ICASA STILL haven't even responded never mind done anything about it. This whole 1 November debacle has proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that ICASA is an uter waste of office space. There would be absolutely no effect on the SA telco market if they dissapeared from the face of the planet, and we probably wouldn't even notice for a year or so.

I agree, I have lost all faith in icasa after the lack of action on the adsl findings report and 1st november. u cant blame them, they are under the goverments wing, the government is totally to blame for a weak icasa.

@ OneEye

your rant is in the wrong thread LOL. there is complants icassa do not reply to complants. This in no way implicated there is action taken on the complaints just confirmation that they responded to reception of my complaints and are investigating the exact issues I complaned about and so many others. So by the way while we are at it, how many complaints did you send in or are You also one of those that throw tantruns but do nothing??
Hhe just a question

I would have thought it was the right thread. Just saying (in a very affirmative manner), that ICASA will not help. Oh and I have sent in complaints, supported complaints, gone to hearings, signed petitions etc. Net result. ADSL in SA is significantly worse now than it was a year ago. Telkoms profits go up 25% a year. Broadband penetration in SA is stagnating at 0.2%. Ivy still has her head firmly shoved up her rather copious behind.

This whole sorry afair has left me feeling less confident in South Africa's future than at any point in the last 10 years. The Telkom / SA government alliance is proudly South African. Utterly Arrogant, uttelry corrupt, utterly useless and utterly untouchable. Face it, the broadband issue and Telkoms sabotage of the SA economy with resultant job / skill losses will not cost the ANC one seat in parliament. The masses simply don't know nor care whats going on. This won't change in the next 20 years. And Ivy and her minions know it. So why not live the high life on a Telkom expense account while you push SA further into the mud. After all we'll just blame apartheid for the mess later.

Oh and if you believe ICASA are actually investigating your letter then I have a couple of bridges I can sell you in Brooklyn. Cheap once in a lifetime deal.

But feel free. Naive optimism is so cute in the young.

Actually really, please continue. As will I. Right now I am unbelievably frustrated. Just because it's hopless, there is no reason to give up hope.

Rather have tried and failed than not tried at all.

@OneEye

Great that is what I like to hear. I am not that young LoL and read my signature. But do not give up, I believe what we experiece now is the last kicks Telkom gives to stamp their domination, but they are going to fail hopelessly as there is to much said and done the last few months. Me thinx MaD is right. Telkom is sweating. Not to long anymore. This is the beginning of the end and Telkom will regret what they have done now for years to come

I sent a complaint to ICASA when Telkom did not install my telephone lines for my business in a reasonable time (3 weeks).

They also sent me a letter like this after a few days, and managed to forward the complaint to Telkom about a month later.

Telkom responded fast and furious.

I have to agree: ICASA is a useless watchdog.

Too slow to achieve anything good in the fast techological era we live in.
