I contacted Autopage to find out what the costs are to port my contract to another provider - as I have only 13 days left of my contract (Till the full 24 month term has been completed)

They informed me that it will cost R 2593.70 to move my contract 13 days earlier ? I mean.... comon !

I thought this was supposed to be regulated ?

No ... I had the same issues with these guys, they wanted R5000 for "early-cancelation" of my contract 6mths before end of contract (@ R50pm). So I took out a new contract with Vodacom and threw my old simm away (it expires ironicaly today).

But they can still do this, as they have a sucky contract.

This is criminal... They double debited me in December accidently (apparently it was alot of their subscribers) and dont have the courtesy to contact their users and tell them of the error. Until it was queried, then only they returned the funds !,

Yup, I had to stick with them for one month out of contract just to move to Nashua Mobile - best thing I ever did.

I made a complaint against Nashua Mobile that they had overcharged an amount on my bill. They called and asked me how much they had overcharged and promptly refunded that amount - I could have told them anything, they just wanted their customer to be happy with the service.

I waited 5 days before my contract expired and everything was good. Until my number was disconnected and yet the number porting never went through. SO I lost my number cause the ****ed up!

OH CRAP - I hope i dont loose mine - I had it for 10 years already !...

Just make sure you cancel your old contract, IIRC it doesn't get cancelled by itself after the 24 months ;)

Its going to be such a pleasure doing it... no more bad service 13 days to go ;)

I have to say that I am porting from Autopage simply because of the crazy cancellation fees.

They don't care that they are engaging in what is clearly an unfair business practise they are just interesting in holding onto you until the last second.

I don't care that soon they will be barred from doing this, it is a principled thing.

My contract expires on the 3rd of March, they want more than R3000 to cancell it now.

I wonder how much they would charge to cancel it on the 28th of February?

I was also on autopage what you have to do is not cancel the contract otherwise your number will be disconnected and you'll never see it again. Just wait till the contract expires, autopage will then continue the contract on a month to month basis without your permission  Then just fill in a port me form to the network/service provider you want to go to they will handle autopage from there on.

Warning if you cancel your contract at any stage you will lose your number!
