A small company in Australia launches a VoIP killer application
If any of you have been following the international VoIP news in the past few weeks you will have noticed Jajah.com launching their webactivated VoIP service. In essence they allow the user to connect to any 2 PSTN or mobile destinations in the world using VoIP. Only problem: their service is more expensive than traditional VoIP providers, but still miles cheaper than Telkom
Two days ago a very small company in Australia (http://www.voxalot.com/action/webCall) launched a twist of webactivated telephony, which will have a serious impact on the likes of Jajah.com and even Skype. It may even kill Jajah.com. The venture capialists behind Jajah will not like this new application.
The idea is simple, free and ingenious and you do not need a broadband VoIP connection, no VoIP adapter and no VoIP Phone. The only requirement is a pathetic Telkom internet connection or any other SA dial-up connection and you will have to sign up with preferably 2 SIP VoIP providers.
All you need to do is register for free with Voxalot, enter your phone number and the number you would like to call and the VoIP provider(s) you would like to use to make the connection. Click Call and Voxalot will connect the two PSTN lines or a PSTN and mobile line any where in the world at your VoIP providers rates.
In our case we used voipdiscount.com and sparvoip.de to test and make PSTN to PSTN calls to Europe at 0.014 Euros per minutes. We even connected two landlines in South Africa at a cost of 0.028 Euros per minute.
The Voxalot system is still in beta testing, but if it lives up to the expectations then Telkom or any other Monopoly worldwide can kiss their ripoff rates goodbye!!
