Seems my exchange has been upgraded:

DSL Speed 448 Kbps Upstream,
4512 Kbps Downstream
 
I noticed that in old main rd, Durban at every telkom box there were techies there installing stuff, i never had the time to ask em for any info. I applied for dsl about 2 months ago and we were told our exchange is not supported but they will be doing our area. Looks like they are trying to do as much as they can my august.

LaRoosTa, is that what speeds u are getting curently?
 
They're probably busy upgrading the exchanges to allow 1mbit connections (and possibly higher).

LOL, if telkom had to do that i would never stop laughing, i agree with koffiejunkie, but then i wonder why the dude noticed like a d/l speed of almost {EDIT}4mb/s..............

My bad, put gb/s by mistake!

Nope I my bandwidth is still capped at 512kb, but my router reports its connected at those speeds. I've rebooted my router a few times, but its connecting at those speeds everytime.

Upstream Speed: 384 kbps
Downstream Speed: 640 kbps

Perhaps TelkoDemonopoly are upgrading the drainage pipe in [post=249248]preparation for the effects of the laxative...[/post]:D...probably Video on Demand trials as suggested by andres101...
 
The only big thing I can see coming is a big bowel movement ... from what I have read, telkom are incapable of purty much everthing. I thought SBC was the worst telecoms provider in the world, well now Telkom has taken that place, and I haven't even moved in yet!!!

how would u check wat ure line is capable of?
 
my 192 connection has been pulling down data at 40kB/s and torrents are moving nicely at 20kB/s.... i don't know what happened... either Telkom messed around with the exchange and didn't slow my connection down to 192, or they are going to upgrade everyone.

i did see them at the corner box 2 weekends ago... maybe something is up

Aman, you're just one of the lucky ones. My 192 package was moving along nicely at 34kB/s untill a few days ago. Now the best I get is 20kB/s
 
Mine also states:
Upstream Speed: 384 kbps
Downstream Speed: 640 kbps
