What are my upgrade options?

In front of my PC...............
I have a PC with the following specs:
Motherboard: Asus P5ne-sli
CPU: Intel E6600
RAM: 2x2GB OCZ DDR2 800mhz
Graphics: Geforce 8800GTS 320mb
Case: Stock -(definitley getting a new one, regardless of upgrade or not)
Optical drive: (NEC dvd writer-IDE interface)
Hard drive: (500GB seagate 16mb cache 7200rpm)
Other: memory card reader
Screen: 19 inch fujitsi siemens.

I desperately need a new case the old one is an eyesore. Budget for Upgrade is R2k. Including new case.
Thinking of getting the CM RC 334 with side window for about R420 and with the rest I was thinking maybe if I can find a 2nd hand 8800GTS and put the 2 together in SLi and with the rest buy more RAM. The CPU is going to be way too much to upgrade.
Any Ideas??

Can your psu support sli ? Imo sell the 8800 and use that cash plus the budget to buy a decent card , there wont be a huge gain in performance in sli. Btw you have enough ram
 
Sorry forgot to add PSU its an omega 600w.(Omega Isonic MegaPower Modular 600W)
Will the mobo support an ati card? it has the nforce 650i chipset.
How much will I get for the card?
Since I have enough RAM will it be worth it to upgrade the CPU?
PC is mainly used for gaming and video converting.

ur biggest back for buck would b a gpu upgrade, cpu is fine for now

sell your current card and get something better. as for the case, sooner down the line you will realise that a case built around practically will be a better buy than one that's just all about looks. go for something with great airflow, that's most important imho

anything you can recommend, The CM RC334 was not too badly priced, neat looking and it has a side window. If you saw my current case you would LOL. Its terrible, airflow is poor and its hedious. Anything will look good next to it.

GFX card wise should I go for something in the GT 2xx range or in the 9xxx range. Price wise the GT range is very expensive, but I guess I could afford this card: http://www.prophecy.co.za/innovision-gts250-256bit-ddr3-512mb-p-35097.html is it any good? Again will my motherboard support an ATi card?
 
Your mobo will support an ATI card. If you really want to upgrade your chassis look at the Cooler master CM690 or the CM590. Those cases have excellent airflow, they look good and they are relatively cheap
 
Well unfortunately your mobo wouldn't take the new 45nm quad chips, so you'll proly have to upgrade your cpu. I've got the 680sli and I can only 'downgrade' to the new c2d, pretty sad for such nice boards.

I think you should look @ getting a new case and look for a new cpu for that budget, maybe the E7400.
 
the CM 590 and 690 are almost double to tripple the price of the 334. I won't have much left if I want a decent GFX card. Since My mobo will support an ATi card, which ones do I look at. The 4850 the 4870 or the 4890. I haven;t really looked at ATi before, but I hear their cards are cheap and well wort their price tags, but I can't really seem to understand their naming schemes.
 
On your budget a 4850 or a 4870 would be good , depending on your budget

And I sell my current card and buy another HDD
Since today gaming doesnot use the CPU as much I think I'll wait to upgrade to an i7 System later. My bro just got an i7 system, he uses it for CAD etc it seems fast. He aslo got a GTX 275 The card is brilliant, He can play his games with the graphics on max. Its too expensive for me tho.
 
The 9800 practically is the 8800 so you wont see much of a performance boost
 
Get an HD 4870. Awesome graphics card. :) Graphics card upgrade would give you the best bang for buck. I'd spend the entire budget on a graphics card. You don't need to upgrade your RAM. Your CPU/Mobo can be upgraded at a later stage.
 
Would keeping the 8800 GTS for about 6months longer be a better option. I know that I may get a little more to put into my budget at the end of the year. I don't want to blow unnecceary cash on a card that is almost exactly like my cuurent card for a few fps. I rather save what I can now and go for the best in 6 months. I'll just upgrade my case for now then. Any ideas on a good case between R400-R600.
 
+1 4870 is best bet , prophecy got them cheapest - maybe just not in stock atm. A elite 334 case is more than enough for your setup - i dont see the point in spending so much on a component that doesnt increase performance
 
At almost 2k, it leaves me with nothing for a case. R2k is my budget and selling my 8800 GTS could take forever. The case is what I really need. So I think I'm just gonna have to buy the case for now and leave the rest for later.
This graph http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-radeon,2326-16.html shows me baisically where in the Graphics food chain I lie, at the bottom of the trash can. But I think I may just tough it out for 6 months and upgrade nicely at the end of the year.
