I have a very strange problem.

Since the 9th IS accounts are refusing to authenticate on my dsl line.
I just get a message that says the usename/password is wrong.

SAIX accounts work fine.

So I called my ISP Webafrica and they can authenticate just fine with that account. So then they logged a fault with IS and IS told me that their side is also working 100% and that is a Telkom problem.

So today I logged a fault with Telkom but I'm not sure if Telkom will "understand" my problem to fix it. I'm pretty sure Telkom is gonna come back to me and blame IS again...

Has anyone else had this kind of problem?
Is there some secret number for a Technical department at Telkom that can understand the problem?

Ek is raadop mense.

If Telkom can't or won't fix, ask IS to get their Telkom rep to push from his side. They seem able to get much more action than your gewone joe soap like you and me.

Ok well a telkom rep called me just now and told me they can't fix the problem since the line is "working" fine.

So now I must call IS again and get them to talk to their Telkom rep to fix this problem.

Sheesh they sure know how to pass the buck these poepols....

Yup! But what you are doing is the only way. I have just been through Telkom taking SIX DAYS of persuasion by IS to acknowledge a fault as theirs and fix it!

Well I'm posting an update on the situation I have.

I have now gone from logging complaints with WebAfrica-> IS -> Telkom ->IS -> WebAfrica and my problems still persists. No one seems able to help me.

So I have been without IS access for more than two weeks now.

Now I wonder if Webafrica's support really is so great since they cannot help me or even bother to log a complaint with Telkom/IS on my behalf.

This just makes me realize how pathetic the communications between the ISPs/Telkom/IS are.

Maybe someone from webafrica will see this post and decide to actually help and not just refer me to IS/Telkom over and over.

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

have you got one of those webafrica line and account packages?

WebAfrica are responsible, they are your ISP, your agreement is with them, and they must get it fixed.

I've had similar problems on IS accounts with Openweb in the past, and they always responded promptly with a solution.

I agree with you but sofar their support has left much wanted.
I think the biggest factor is that this problem requires some technical know-how that the normal support staff don't have, so they don't know what to do. Hence they play pass the buck 101 with me.

I had 2 the one was cancelled for this month. So its 1 atm.
But if they can't fix this problem I'm going to cancel that account aswell and ask for credit.
Then I'll be forced to buy SAIX accounts to get some local bandwith.

The person cashing your cheques should sort it out!

Hi oober, can you pm me your line port and nas IP as displayed in the dsl-console and I'll check on our side to see if there's anything related to your line that's causing authentication problems.

Our apologies for the problems you've been experiencing, if I can identify any issue on our side I'll get it sorted quickly.

Ok well just an update on this persisting issue. Webafrica has been of no help at all. They did not bother to do any real follow ups with IS/SAIX they just kept on logging a case and nothing more. In the end I had to cancel my account and now I'm being forced to get an IS account, then IS will help me, because IS says WA is not doing their work by following up with them.

So WA while your normal service was good, with this problem your service has been pathetic!!!!! Or should I say it is non existing?:sick:

In the end WA forced me to do the follow up work myself and I'm not even suppose to do any followups with IS, they are not my ISP WA is. Pathetic
WA kept on closing the cases (opened like 3/4) without resolving the issue and they didn't even bother to call me and tell me they are closing the FQs.

The problem is then OpenWeb will have to log a fault with IS so the problem that I have with WA could happen again, and I'm not to keen on that. I'm now trying to get an IS account directly from IS so that they are more willing to help me.

I have had 2 similar problems in the past few months. My IS account just stopped working mid-way through the month.

After chatting to Openweb they said it has something to do with Telkom "locking" a port on the exchange I'm on. (I'm not 100% sure about the details). Anyways....Openweb managed to get it sorted for me within a day or so. Not sure what they did to rectify it from their side.

Well I spoke to WA again and they said they will let me know whats going on tonight. IS is clueless and full of BS. It seems they are giving WA BS aswell. So I might have been to harsh on WA but really they need to help me sort out this problem.

Maybe I should ask MrBeep what the problem was so that WA can follow the same steps to fix it.
