you would think that in light of this and all the other problems, that there would be an effort to look after what they have, rather than try and tick them off - and then run around like headless chickens when things fall apart
 
Who needs a matric. A standard 6 is enough to make you president. The rest of the grades should just be done away with :D

Pollsmoor, 2009: President Jacob Zuma and cabinet will go ahead and place the upper grades under the Grade 8s.
The two-day cabinet lekgotla starting today will mainly be used to discuss ways and means of ensuring that grades 9-12 are disbanded by June this year.

here's the catch...you don't have to start in Grade 1.
a lot of people were allowed to directly jump into higher grades. stupid, yes. but that's how it went. they (up top) wanted to "spare these people the embarrassment of needing to go do grade 1 at the age of 14"....a better solution would've been an extra-built curriculum with steps to facilitate for the groups of students at their collective level of literacy, and to build from there. an accelerated learning program, so to speak. a 14 year old will much more quickly learn the basics which is normally taught in grades 1-3.

but no, we have to put them directly into the "appropriate" school level, even though they can't cope, and our later rules/laws about how one is allowed into school and allowed to partake will then make sure that they get thrown out after two years
