Ok , so the smtp service on mail.mtn.co.za is dead , who broke it ?

I thought it was an APN issue like the last time so I set the APN field in Ginggs E620 tool to "mymtn" and did a telnet via Putty since Vista Ultimate does'nt have a telnet client , service dead.

Changed APN back to "internet" and tried again via telnet , service still dead.

Please fix today still gentleman.

Bah , found out Vista does have a telnet client that is NOT installed by default , for all you Vista users do the following ...

Go to Control Panel.
Go to Programs.
Go to Program and Features.
Click Turn Windows Feature on or off.
Check mark the telnet client.

And presto (",) it will work

Service still dead , at least 1555 put it on the IVR that it is broken (called at 08H22 on 15/02/2008)

Its either sending out spam , compromised , someone did'nt update the antivirus on it , or the network cable is pulled out or the nic is dead or the OS itself went kaboom (can be so many reasons)

Technicial on 1555 says to use mail.mtnloaded.co.za as a temp measure until the mail.mtn.co.za service is restored (will get details once its back in service) or when the mail.mtnloaded.co.za one stops working.

Communication about this would be nice from their side on a website with the new work-around.

In a communication business but don't communicate , quite annoying.
