VM: Are they really that bad?

This was my question when trying to load airtime on my prepaid sim card.

I mean really, what can be so difficult to load airtime ...
Did load airtime via Internet Banking and assumed that the airtime will automatically appear on my cellphone. Waited a few hours, eventually decided to phone them just to find out if there might be any technical issues. Apparently one has to send them (they first asked me to FAX it)
1. Cellphone details
2. Payment Details
3. Copy of ID

IS this normal process? I just can imagine that this is really the way they work

So yes, I'm finally convinced that VirginMobile's services are the worst and will never have a successful business in SA.
 
no, they are worse....
I've loaded airtime, send all the details but cannot use the funds I've transferred. Weird yes, but true. And yes, I spoke to several consultants up to date no-one was able to help me.

I consider this at theft. Pure theft
 
airtime via Internet Banking with vmobile is a nightmare. But for now it hasnt gaven me problems just that when your account expires you can load R10000000 airtime via internet Banking and nothing would happen unless you but airtime from a shop. Yet Cell C allows it their own friends in crime
 
must say it was quite a pleasure destroying the sim card...
Feels really good, you folks should give it a try.

BTW, you can buy a Virgin SIM or airtime at Checkers or Shoprite and they don't ask for your ID or anything.
 
I have only had good experiences with them - good stable signal, nice download rates - no dropped calls.
So far I have downloaded approx 25-30 gigs on Virgin mobile since I started with them
 
Yes. But the other SA networks are even worse.
 
I've had that grief as well, internet banking and loading airtime would take a few hours to load with me. Whereas with every other network it loads in secs.
I called them to inquire about this and was told by was woman up the ladder that it wasn't really their fault that Cell C was the issue and they were piggy backing on them.

Don't get me started on the net with them, I have a dairy full of dates when they were down in one month. Not good at all.
 
what bank are url using? cus fnb is a instant thing for me ... :| well abt 5 - 10min and i have my airtime with no hassles...
 
They hacked me off. I ported to MTN. I have had no problems since...just my experience with them.
 
I went from a Vodacom Weekender to the Virgin Unlimited SMS package.

So far, voice is fine, no problems there.

DATA is also fine, I use Opera Mini 4 on my P1i with no hassles.

I can SMS as much as I want, I got a nice spare camera phone for the weekend and I don't spend more than R200 a month.

Thats my experience so far, its been good.
 
Virgin and CellC are OK for guys that are willing to struggle in life.... Or the techies in high school / varsity that love to play... For me, never ever gain. They suck bigtime.

Or for people who just need to make and receive calls and send as many sms's as they want. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but give credit where credit is due.

And again the unlimited SMS offer was available only to new customer. So the existing customers like me paying far more for an SMS than I do now on an MTN bundle were funding it.
 
Again, only for guys that are willing to struggle... Don't you think all the BulkSMS providers would have moved to VM should the unlimited SMS option be real, true and reliable??

It isn't meant for commercial purposes. There is a fair use policy, so if you are going to be sending out 1 000 SMS's an hour or whatever, they won't allow that.

Say what you want, I came from Vodacom because there wasn't a contract available that suited my needs. Virgin had such a contract and I'm perfectly happy with it so far.
