I want to buy this monitor here but am afraid that the screen is too glossy.

Samsung
[2232GW] - 22 WIDE TFT, 1680 X 1050, 2 Millisecond, .282mm dot pitch, 3000:1 Contrast Ratio, Analogue/DVI, Tilt Stand, Magic Glare - NEW

Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to view it. Is the glossy finish on the screen bad in terms of reflections?

What might not be bad for me might be bad for you, some like it some don't.
Was also sceptic when i purchased mine but did it anyway, got a good deal so had to do it.
Best is to try and see the real thing.
It is a very nice screen imo.

I will pop by incredible's tomorrow and check it out - if they sell it that is.

Some advice please - what other screen can I look at that is not so reflective. I have a 19" LG L1918S and I really like it.

Last i saw they had them, if they don't have the 22" check for the 19 or 20" they look exactly the same, just different sizes.

Where are you planning on purchasing ?

Online or at a Physical shop ?

Not sure if the 2232gw differs from the 226bw but from my experience the screen isn't really reflective. It is glossy but not some thing that I notice too much.

I use my screen in a room with a glass door so had it been really reflective I would notice straight away thats why I went for the samsung instead of the HP 22 inch screen.

yea exactly the screen is glossy not reflective

i have it and experience no reflection at all unless the monitor is off :)

glossy and reflective 2 very different things

remember samsung are a massive company and not stupid, they would produce a screen that is kuk and not good for some ppl

i have yet to see anyone on this forum complain about the glossy part of the screen

The problem with glossy LCDs is the dust...the microfrikkinfine particles of dust..you'll notice it when the screen is off.

You cant wipe it away. With most objects when you wipe dust off, most of the dust comes off...not with these no. What you are doing is merely moving the dust from one area on your screen to another area on your screen.

The Lesson: invest in some good quality LCD cleaner :)

Does the Asus VW222U also have a glossy screen?

My local IC has a 226BW S Panel which I'm considering.

22"

Online or at a Physical shop ?

I was looking at a bricks&mortar shop since I wanted to get it by this weekend. But if I get a good deal online then I am prepared to wait till next week.

I use the cleaner from Cramolin - Screen Cleaner. It is bloody expensive and is used is most MIL Spec environments.

I have this screen and I love it, by far the best screen I've ever owned.

get the Acer 24" screen, very nice. look at my signature for code of the screen.

Which store has them setup properly? I could see ghosting on the monitors at my local IC - maybe it was the VGA connection?
