Bloemfontein - A "spirit" apparently told a man from here to dig under his house for money and now the man won't stop digging.
Isaac Setsipane, 45, of Grasland informal settlement, allegedly was visited in his sleep by a "spirit".
Isaac's wife, Mpho, 28, said: "The spirit said there was money under the house and that we must dig."
Isaac had first consulted a sangoma.
The sangoma told Isaac to do what the "spirit" said and so he began to dig in the middle of their house.
The hole was already about 4m deep and was taking on the form of a tunnel.
Isaac has not yet found his treasure but he has kept digging resolutely.
Told to stop digging
All that Isaac has come across so far is water.
Mpho said: "If we find treasure, we are going to build a big house in honour of the spirit."
Joel Mafereka, MEC for local government and housing, was at the Setsipane's home during a visit to a building development in Grasland.
A shocked Mafereka said this could not be tolerated and that the municipality would have to intervene.
Ntsoaki Phupha, a ward council member, told Isaac earlier to stop digging immediately and to seal the hole.

- Maybe the guy should lay off the Crack :D

lol, maybe he is "sleep-digging" ask him to dig the holes for Neotel, maybe that will speed up the process

All ppl from Grasland are deluded!!! AT first I thought it was just dodgy... now I know its more than that!

is this not the same kind of thinking that contributes towards muti killings / have AIDS, sleep with a virgin and so on and so forth... I don't know how much of this is prevalent with the new generation, but it boggles the mind.

And these deluded people are also allowed to vote. No wonder this country is in the poo

Here's another "true" story. A woman that works with a family member, paid a Malawi witchdoctor R2,000 to remove a insect that someone had put in her stomach. Now this is a person who uses email and the net, works on a computer everyday, and has ideas like this.

I thinks I could start a real business here, if I was not a kewl guy...:-)

maybe the pot of gold under the rainbow(nation) is there somewhere, oh! wait the government have already spent it :(

get a sangoma to tell half the population to dig the hole, and the other half to fill it in, that should solve some problems.
