I'm so fed up
Telkom claims there is a 'general' fault in my area since Sat 03 May and after numerous phone calls from my cell they finally responded via email with:

There is a area fault and the estimated date to be resolved is 27/5/08 ,other people is also affected by it

Don't reply to this mailbox

Regards
So since the 3rd I have a dead telephone line and obviously my ADSL is down too, but to have to wait until the 27th of May!!!
No downloads for me :o And I happen to have a 7GB WA account too that I won't get to use so I'll still have to pay for it??

I have written to Telkom again requesting a credit on my account since I cannot use my phone and ADSL so why should I pay for it. I'll try HelloPeter as well but what use is it really

Anyway, just had to vent.. sorry :D

Well, Telkom's terms & conditions state that if they are not able to resolve your complaint within 24 hours, they will refund you for each day you are without service.

So, although you might not have ADSL for 18 more days, at least you will have some cash for a Colonel Burger.

Well well, aren't you lucky!!!
My home phone/dsl has been dead since 13 APRIL (and still is, I'm posting this from work), and nobody has been able to help me. I don't even have an estimated repaired-by date, like you have. I've tried hellopeter too, and to be honest that was purely a waste of time, because unless it caused that cyclone in the news by means of chaos effect, it's done absolutely NOTHING.

On the Telkom site there is a contact us link. When you click that there is a 'telkom online customer support' section, where you can click on the 'form'. It opens a page with an exclamation mark near the top of the page, informing you if you want to report a fault.. 'log it here'. Click that and complete the next page, entering your reference number if you have one and a message asking for an estimated fix date.
Hope it helps:)

Hey Fiekus, thanks for the idea...
I've tried the Telkom online 'phone dead' fault report form (the one you mentioned) 3 seperate times - two of them being "Progress Enquiries" with a reference number I got from 0800 375 375. Each time I got a mail back saying "Your message has been sent to Bloemfontein Team" or something like that, and I haven't received one response from those yet.
I've also used the online 'dsl fault report'. Also no response... the 0800 375 375 says the fault is still open, so now I'm just doing the most obvious thing to do and that's just wait, and complain (do you blame me?)...

Nah I don't blame you, I'm also complaining as much as I can. :) I am also determined, if they don't credit me with something, to tell them to cancel my account with them. I'll investigate wireless or something...

Just an update on WebAfrica. I mailed them and told them my problem and they reversed my charges for the month :D That's R489 as I subscribe to their 7GB IS package. All it took was an email!

All it took was an email!
And that's how every damn company should operate!
It's nonsense that we have to STRUGGLE to get even a word out of Telkom (sit on the damn phone for AGES!)
I mean I thought to myself "dont bother emailing them/using the online fault report form, if you can't even get through on phone". -- and I was right! Why the heck do they even have an online fault report system? It's fruitless - completely cosmetic. sad :(
