When sending from Outlook, I get a message saying sending failed, the mailbox is full (mail.mtn.co.za on myMTN). The incoming mail account is a gmail account, the laptop connects via an MTN 3G card. All worked well for quite a long time until a few days ago. SMTP error 450 4.2.2

Where is this supposed mailbox on the SMTP server? I thought, firstly, you cannot have a mailbox on an SMTP server, and I have no idea who would set up their SMTP server to store mails sent from external clients (outlook etc) in some mailbox that the user does not know about.

Can anyone tell me which SMTP server will work from an MTN 3G card or at least where to clean out this mailbox? Or what would otherwise cause this?

Edit:
mtn.mtnloaded.co.za works.
Telnet to mail.mtn.co.za:25 greets and HELO is accepted. I did not walk through the whole SMTP process manually.

Mail box full

Same problem for me but with a Hotmail account. I have no idea what is happening but would love someone to advise :) Absolutely pointless asking MTN themselves!

450 4.2.2 <[email protected]>... mailbox full

gmail smtp

Why not use gmails smtp server? You have a gmail account so all you need to do is:
*set the SMTP server to smtp.gmail.com.
*Set your username to <yourgmailusername>@gmail.com
*make sure "Use username and password" is checked.
*make sure "TLS" is UNChecked

Hi
Try using mail.mtnloaded.co.za for the SMTP
Please also advise me if this is still an issue? If so, please PM me the POP3 email address you are using to submit the emails and I shall check if i can find anything wrong.
Regards

This explains why I kept getting 'Mailbox full' responses yesterday when sending mail via MTN's regular server. Also having serious MTN connection problems today as mentioned earlier in a separate thread. Any inside information on when the problems are likely to be resolved?

I had the same problem with gmail running on Vodacom 3G. You have to use your service provider's smtp server, and in my case i had to set the outgoing servet port to default. Make sure that the setting "my outgoing server requiers authentication" is deselected under the advanced settings. enjoy
