Check it out in iTunes...

SA credit card payment options and everything.. could this mean Music is on the way? Could somebody see if they can pay for iPod Touch updates through the store?

We are getting screwed ! There is only a couple of Apps and no games etc. Payment via credit card seems to be working

Really sucks that we cannot buy any games. Wonder what the story is.

Otherwise ver 2.0 works. Bought 2 apps and dl a couple of free apps and it works like a charm.

PS Just missing my games man !

Some ppl download the firmware of the net, its floating around freely
And just install it without going the itunes route.(dont do it be responsible)

This is infact illegal. But apple said the only reason they charge for the update is for "Accounting" purposes not profit, so i'm sure they wont mind someone getting it for free then
I'm an accountant by the way... what "accounting" practice could that possibly be:confused: maybe i'm just a bad accountant then :o

EDIT: On a different note. Its not illegal if you get this firmware update free for your iphone because they dont charge for it. On the flipside Apple doesnt sell iphones in SA & it is locked to a AT&T contract so having one here on an SA network is a crime in itself seeing as AT&T has a contract with Apple. Upgrading your illegal south african iphone to a new "free" firmware is another crime again you're not using this phone in the states..
So someone with a Touch would have a legal device in this country, Unlike the iphone guys. Now legal device illegal update if you get it free. ALL SO CONFUSING APPLE!!!

But the installer app wont work? as its for the older firmware? or has that been sorted?
Hav 16gb touch want to upgrade but i'll wait a few more weeks.

Apparently the only devices that exist are iPod Touch and iPhone. Never mind support for my iPod.

And I'm authorised to listen to purchased music (not available yet) on one computer only. Just doesn't seem worth it - I thought DRM was on the way out.

Hmmm... how long will it be till they upgrade the store?

Try this link: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1557

Upgraded my iPhone last week. I now have access to the Installer (they started to add apps to the new installer this weekend), Cydia and Apps Store. MORE than enough to keep me busy. Also talk to d0b33 for access to the iTunes store.

So we can get a iTunes account for getting album art? Or is that also disabled?

I signed up for an iTunes account purely so I could get the art for all my albums - guess what, the service isn't provided here. This was a month ago - I doubt the situation has changed since then.

Phantsi ngo Apple, phantsi!!!!

So I'm contemplating getting an iPhone when I get back to SA, have an Itunes account...checked the store today and they still don't offer any games, not to mention music(which can be forgiving considering rights issues). But what's the excuse for not offering games ...Apple SA might as well put up signs telling people to jailbreak their iPhones if they want meaningful apps.:mad:

a hint for people wanting online music legally. www.amazonmp3.com. Cheaper than iTunes and available in SA (I assume).
Real pity that iTunes hasn't really given SA anything. Also wanted artwork downloads.

Agreed... I really don't care who I give my money too... "iTunes South Africa" unfortunately loses out this time round...

It also calls bull**** on the whole "record companies are preventing itunes from coming to south africa" story that core keep feeding the masses... If amazon can do it then so can Apple. Period.
