ADSL timeouts and latency now a national crisis?

I have noticed that these international connectivity timeouts and latency issues of the past few weeks are getting worse and more frequent. The number of related post are increasing, and it seems its not just limited to specific areas in SA.

Anyone in the know; know what's really going on, obviously not an isolated problem .... 99% of us have to route through SAIX and we all know who owns the land line cable infrastructure ...Essentially we are all throttled through the same international data cabling system...not so?

So just when does this become a denial of service issue? :confused:

I am experiencing this today mostly on international sites, local not much faster, my office is in Randburg, GP
 
cant wait till the worldcup, post office must be grinning from ear to ear, soon snailmail will be faster than email.
 
It's fairly annoying yes... not a crisis yet I would imagine. Anyone who is running anything truly critical is unlikely to be doing so on lines that would be affected.
 
International connectivity is painfully slow....can ANYBODY shed some light on this. My local seems reasonably fine. Last night at home was the same, might they be having some trouble on the undersea cables?
 
I'm having the same issues.
Local is fast but international is very very slow.
What could this be. Also in the Randburg area btw.
 
Was fine till 5 minutes ago. Now my international is either not connecting or too slow. Local is fine but I don't really use local so its not very helpful:mad:.
 
Its getting rediculous now. WTF is going on???? Telkom, get your act together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Guys, This ADSL that is ****ed is making my life Hell, im booking domains and uploading website, Sending out work and links but nobody can see it! what is going on here? now i look like a ****, they are really taking this piss now and NOBODY Knows what the problem is?

When i add dsl-cache.saix.net things appear Better then i Tjune the clients add dsl-cache.saix.net and then they tjune me,nooit they not PC technician and how can they tell there clients to add some **** to there browser just to view there site. If telkom would just publish something that says okie TELKOM IS ****ED it would make my life alot easier

from my pov it seems to be a saix only issue and some is products, either that or because i'm using http tunnel's vpn service i don't notice it, all downloads at 4mbs maxed out...

Same problems with IS

Is IS experiencing the same issues? If not, I'm switching tomorrow.
 
i haven't noticed any issues on my IS semi-shaped fibre account
