Where can i find a Samsung 2253GW for sale in Cape Town??

The only place i could find it was online for R2850 (dont feel like waiting and dont want to have to ship it back if faulty) and Incredible Connection for way over R3000 (dont feel like getting ripped off).

Any value orientated resellers in Cape Town that i dont know about??

Thanks!

Edit- my eyes are failing me in my old age. The 2253 I have not seen anywhere other than IC

But Cafeviva in Claremont should be able to source them for less than that :)

I should be getting one this week. :D It's from a dealer, but yeah, they aren't cheap online (as you'd expect here).

Thanks Henry, i emailed the claremont and durbanville branches requesting a quote.

In what way is it better than the 2232GW? I've seen the higher contrast ratio from the spec sheet, so are they new panels too?

yeah, i would also like to know this please

i was about to buy a 2232gw, so if the 2253 is much better :D

and who can give us some quotes on these monitors?? wheres etai????

Sorry for the (semi) hijack guys, but what has the 2253 got that's so much better than the 2232? I don't have an LCD monitor ATM and see the diff in pricing and that but does HDCP and/or HDMI inputs make that much of difference in the end?

Pardon my ignorance on this one.

On this 2253GW.. Anyone that has one and gaming with it please reply. I am thinking of buying on but see that my Nvidia can only do 60hz refresh rate to the resolution of 1680 x 1050. How will this affect playing games on the LCD Monitor. I have browsed around at it seems like the 2ms response time is more important than refresh rate when working with LCD's but would want some opinions. Thanks for any replies.

Refresh rate doesn't affect LCDs. You're right, response time is more important. 2ms is very good. I really don't think you can go wrong with this monitor for gaming. ;)

Please PM me if you're interested in getting one from me in Cape Town. :)

Liquid crystal displays

Much of the discussion of refresh rate does not apply to the liquid crystal portion of an LCD monitor. This is because while a CRT monitor uses the same mechanism for both illumination and imaging, LCDs employ a separate backlight to illuminate the image being portrayed by the LCD's liquid crystal shutters. The shutters themselves do not have a "refresh rate" as such due to the fact that they always stay at whatever opacity they were last instructed to continuously, and do not become more or less transparent until instructed to produce a different opacity.

The closest thing liquid crystal shutters have to a refresh rate is their response time, while nearly all LCD backlights (most notably fluorescent cathodes, which commonly operate at ~200Hz) have a separate figure known as flicker, which describes how many times a second the backlight pulses on and off.

Dealer cost for the 2232GW is R2000.00 + VAT + Profit. So if one is a huge reseller then obviously a better price can be offered.
